ABOUT ME
G'day, my name is Justin. I was born and bred in outback NSW and now live in Toowoomba, QLD. I am married and my wife Sara is due wiyh our first baby in october. I'm a carpenter by trade and spend most of my spare time with rifle in hand looking for that next big trophy. Wild pigs are my speciality but I've recently taken up stalking deer and howling dingos. I rode bulls for a few years but had to give it up due to injury. Please bear with me while I fumble my way through this whole computer thing, it's all new to me.
How did the burn go? It doesn't rain for months then, when you want a good weekend.......
Yeah mate, we went down and set up but it was just to wet to get anything to burn. Out brigade ended up driving home Saturday night. Bit of a non event. Not sure if they are gonna try to do it again or not now. Would have been a hell of a lot of organising for nothing.
Yeah good mate. We ended up with about fifty roos, a bit down on numbers but it will be better in about a fortnight. I took out a gunsmith mate of mine for a hunt and we got a pig each, not very big but still pigs. I shot a few foxes for skins, there is a photo of one of the better ones in my gallery. Drop a match for me this weekend.
Cool, nice to get a couple of foxes. The pelts have been good around here lately. Have a good weekend.
Well I'm heading to Gundy this weekend for our first "Save the wheat" roo cull. It's too bloody cold to spotlight so we get up 'em shotty style, if you know what I mean. We usually nail a few pigs on these weekends too, I'll let you know how we go.
Sounds good mate - hope you don't freeze to death. Give em hell.
The range you're thinking of is the Cooya range. I was working in Kingaroy a couple of years back and saw two does there early one morning but they tell me deer are rare in that area. Keep an eye out around Crestbrook, there's reds in there.
Cooya, yeah thats the one, wonder why there is no established pupulation. I am gonna have the camera in the fire truck at all times so I will keep an eye out for the reds of Crestbrook - thanks for the head up.
Your on the money. I hunt my reds just north of Crows Nest, not huge numbers of them but some good wild heads getting about. A good mate of mine (who happens to be a profesional hunting guide) got a cracker 8x6 this year and guided a bloke onto a massive 6x6. Any deer in your country?
That was just a lucky guess, I have traveled through there a few time on my way to field archery shoots at Nanango and wondered about the possibility of reds due to the look of the country. Can't quite remember exactly where it is but there is a very steep little range you climb up quite abruptly on the way and it looks good around there.
Yeah, we have a good population of Fallow around here. Just got some property access in the Ballandean area this year (very difficult to come by) so I will be targeting that area for the roar come March/April next year.
I'll be down your way come the first weekend in July, my rural fire brigade (Broadwater) has been asked to supply a truck and crew of three for a HUGE controlled burn around Lake Crestbrook that weekend, should be hectic, but very interesting - Keep your eye out for the smoke.
G'day stealth, how ya been hitting them? I actually spotted you on "Hunting Footage" and got onto this site from your comment. Your right, it is a bloody small world. I went for a look for a red yesterday but only turned up does and young stuff. I spotted a cracker double five a couple of weeks ago but couldn't get a shot. Hopefully I'll be able to get him soon and get a photo on here to show him off. Cheers.
P.S. Close your back door, it's getting bloody cold over here.
HaaaHaaHa, the back door is shut mate, I can't help ya!!! Glad I'm not the only one freezing my tits off. Hope you can get a last at the double five, do you head of toward Esk way for your reds or is there something closer to home? I've always wondered about the area north of Highfields and all the way through to Nanango any deer through there?
That's what you get for thinking...
Hey
I live in Central Queensland but right now I am working in a hunting camp in the Northern Territory...
Have A Great Weekend!!

Enjoy the time off and don't forget to keep an eye on us here, we are planning something big over the weekend :)
Thanks.
