I filled my turkey tag today and couldn't be happier with the result- a 19lb tom with an 8.5" beard and 1" spurs.....

Saturday was Maine youth turkey hunting day and it was a good one. Our deer guide, Richard Gurney took his 11 year old daughter Andrea out hunting. This was Andrea's second year hunting. She took a jake last year. They spotted him and decided to stalk him. After crawling to a spot 40 yards out, Andrea dropped him- a good shot but he lost part of a spur.
Stats for this huge tom are: 24.6lbs, 9.5" beard, Spurs 1.5 and 7/8.  This puts him 4th in the state by weight.
