All Beau and Luke did strengthen people's recognition of the Rebel battle flag, they are not in my novel. They wanted too much money

Thanks! Really appreciate the input. Being that the novel is void of sex and violence, can't take to much chance offending too many people. A Holiday story should not need off color content.  

The goodie goodies want to make everythin perfect. They feel the Rebel flag represents to many of the wrong things about America (of course they drive Jap cars, drink German beer or French wine, wear European clothes and have an illegal immigrant housekeeper!) There, I feel better.

I must admit that you have a very valid way of interpreting the situation. But, in marketing you have to try and please or appease. The Rebel battle flag is just used and meant to be a prop not any kind of political statement.
