My wife and I have 3 grandkids from my oldest son of 28 years. His youngest daughter who is about to turn 4 yrs. of age suffers from a genetic disease called (SMA), Spinal Muscular Atrophy. She has beeen life flighted in a helicoptor from Lincoln Ne. to Omaha Ne. 2 times in the last year. She has been in and out of a hospital since the age of two so many times we have lost count. The disease controls her musular motor skills and is unable to walk and never will, this also effects her from being able to cough hard enough to get things out of her lungs so she gets pneumonia really easy. She is a child that can win your heart in about a minute with her personality. There is no cure for this disease and it took a while before she was even diagnosed with it, the only clue we had that something was wrong, was we could not figure why it was taking her so long for her to learn to crawl, or even remotely wanting to try and stand up to things. She is our little angel in our family and always worry of her condition .
Prayers for her & your family! I have a sister that has a Cerebral Palsy son that is the nicest happiest kid in the world but he's a lot to deal with all the physical & medical issues...
