How many times have you put off that big game hunt figuring that you'll save up a little more and do it next year.....or the year after; only to find out that it's no more affordable then either for the price has gone up. I know that gas is killing all of us and driving prices sky high but here's something to think about. I am a professional hunting guide and have been worldwide since 1984. The big crunch has hit the outfitters also and driven their prices up; however many of them are getting close to their season and still have openings due to the fact that their hunts are a "luxury item" and therefore the last thing that folks want to be spending their money on when times are tough. It's not easy to find people willing to shell out a lot of cash for big time hunts at the last minute unless you cut the prices. They have horses to feed, planes to fly, trucks to drive and guides to pay wether they're full up or not. If a hunt costs you $5,000 and it costs an outfitter $3,000 to run it, he would much rather cover his costs at the last minute than eat the $3,000 that it will cost him anyways. I just know that at this point it's "Let's Make A Deal" time for many outfitters and the more openings they have the better the deal you may get. As soon as the seasons over the prices go right back up to normal for they have a whole year to book for next season and all the sports shows to go to. When the economy is good they usually don't have as much trouble booking up solid. So; even though now might be a tough time for you to spend money, you might save thousands on the hunt you thought you could'nt afford. I know of some great deals in Alaska right now if anyones interested. Just send me a message. Grizzlyhunter
