"Oh Louisiana" - Wayne Toups

He takes a stroll down a canefield road,
It's where he's from.
Fifteen years since he shed the tears,
On the day that he left home.

It was a humid day,
Barefoot children play.
Lookin for that summer shade,
Time just slips away.

Oh Louisiana,
Some kind of hold on me.
Like cypress stumps, your roots are planted deep inside of me.
Oh Louisiana,
Your world is sane to me
And Cajun blood, like a river flood, is wild and runnin free

Makes you holler when the bayou runs,
To the Gulf of Mexico.
Broken dreams goin down stream,
In a never ending flow.

See the spirit of the past,
In the faces of today.
I hear their voices call,
This time I'm here to stay.

Oh Louisiana,
Some kind of hold on me.
Like cypress stumps, your roots are planted deep inside of me.
Oh Louisiana,
Your world is sane to me.
Cajun blood, like a river flood, is wild and runnin free

The heavy rain smells bright and sweet,
And the berries come down with them.
The roof becomes an alto drum,
As the raindrops tap out the rhytmns.

Oh Louisiana,
Some kind of hold on me.
Like cypress stumps, your roots are planted deep inside of me
Oh Louisiana,
Your world is sane to me.
Cajun blood, like a river flood, is wild and runnin free

Oh Louisiana,
Some kind of hold on me.
It's hard to plant your roots when the soil don't break so easily
Oh Louisiana,
Your world is sane to me
Cajun blood, like a river flood, is wild and runnin... runnin free

*yep, pretty much. I love Louisiana.*

Only those of us that live here can attest to hold it has on us.  Gotta love it.
