Ok Ladies

Ok Ladies here is a question for you all.

My wife doesn't get into hunting. She barely cares for fishing or outdoors stuff in general. I hate this because I love to spend time with her and our kids. However, I like doing my things some too. I feel guilty if I spend to much time hunting or fishing. So I end up doing less of these things.

Now thats OK but it would be nice to be able to someday share some of what I love about being outdoors with her. To her credit she does camp some (in a camper) and fishes some too. In fact we went to Alaska a couple years ago, she realy didn't want to go, and now all she talks about is going back.

So it seems to me there is some hope for me there. I know with the kids there isn't alot of time for these things but I hope in the distant future when we have more time she'd want to join me some.

So my question is what should I do to try to include her more? What things got you all into the outdoors? Do you think I even have a chance at getting here to like it more? LOL

I'm don't care for her to hunt realy just to be more excited for me and want to do these things with me instead of just sitting inside (which bores me to tears)

ok tell me what you think.

...I'm kidding thankfully she doesn't do that too much. Archery would be awesome. I'm actually hoping as my girls get older they get her into it. My oldest girl shoots a selfbow better than alot of boys shoot a compound. Plus she's pretty proud of the bow I made her.

I'm hoping after the kids grow up she'll take some interest. We've shot but not regularly. I need to make a point of it. She does want to geta concealed carry permit now.

Try just taking her scouting with you or shed hunting...anything to get her out there and maybe see something. Sometimes that will get a "non-hunter" at least more interested in what it is that makes you love it so much. I know the first time I was able to observe deer and turkey in the woods, I was so fascinated with just that...seeing how they behave naturally. That was enough to make me want more. I also agree that if your kids take an interest in it at all, she might also just to experience that excitement with them. Good luck!!

Some girls just have the interest, and some don't. I don't think you can force her to go with you or to like it. Maybe when your kids get older, they might have an interest in it, and maybe she will take a more active part at that point. I love to hunt. I could hunt all day every day if I had the time. She could care less. In fact if I get a deer she could care less. She doesn't say much to me about going (I usualy only hunt saturday mornings) but at times gets agrivated at me because I want to go out hunting. I minimize my time afield so she doesn't feel left out.

The blind idea may work in the future. I hope. As far as shooting she is a good shot but I haven't been able to go out shooting in a long while. I like when she goes. Maybe that is a good place to start. I'd love if she just tagged allong...or at least cared...LOL I mean I know she cares but I mean that like most hunters I like to relive the hunt by telling someone about it. She doesn't want to hear it at all.

If you do any hunting from a blind, perhaps you could take her along on one of your hunts and you could both sit in the blind together? Does she like to shoot guns? I'm not sure what you could do to get her more involved with hunting. For me, I truly feel as though I was born to be an outdoorswoman. It's hard to explain. Growing up, I had no one that took the time to take me hunting, fishing, shooting, and the like. Therefore, all of what I know now, I learned on my own. For twenty eight years now, I have not missed a single deer season. I deer hunt, using every single method allowed, with my favorite, by far, being bow season. I have always hunted alone, too. In addition to hunting, I've also always had a passion for shooting guns, and in 2003, I started shooting competitively. In 2004, I won three state championships in Missouri, Tennessee, and Georgia. Also that year, I shot a national record score. Find an outdoor activity that your wife seems interested in and involve yourself right along with her. Maybe she'll return the favor to you. Good luck!
