I had him right there, 40 yards away, going to the roost and I MISSED. How, that is all I want to know. I settled in on his head, squeezed the trigger and he just flew off unscathed. I could kick myself in the rear so hard rigth now, and I dont even know what I did wrong. I just hopw I did miss him completly and he is not off in the woods wounded up. I will go look tomorrow just to calm my nerves. I need a massage right now.

Man I used to think it wasnt possible to miss until I got into turkey hunting. I was in camp last week with a bunch of stars from nashville and a bunch of stars off the hunting shows and there were some misses in there too. You may already know this but if not here goes. Its very important to pattern your gun. And then use the same shells from there out. Buy one of those paper turkey targets and shoot 3 times. 20, 30 then 40 yards. You will probably be suprised. The Bennelli I use at 30 yards I have to aim low and to the right just a little. Like aiming where the neck meets the body then over some. It gets worke at 40-45 yards. I used to thing well its a shot gun right. I have to hit it. However not the case. At least if you pattern you pattern your gun your will regain some confidence in your shot. Good luck. Our season starts here this friday.

Thanks,
i know that i need to pattern my gun and I have before, the difference I believe was the fact that I shot remingtons last year and now am using winchesters. we will find out this afternoon
