Wow, that's awesome. Sometimes getting a great hunt on film is almost better than being on a great hunt yourself...ALMOST.

Here is the link to Steve's interview I posted today. Check it out here.

I checked it out yesterday. Pretty cool.

Good stuff.

I'm hoping to get in on some coyote hunting myself. Right now I an getting a bug for pheasants. I never was a bird hunter, but with good pheasant hunting out my back door and a black lab with natural bird dog in her, it is becoming exciting. I'm getting a shock collar for the lab, as she likes to get way out in front and ends up flushing birds out of my range. This morning my son and I went out and she flushed 4 cocks, but only one in range, which I missed :-(. Still have a cow tag and a late archery buck hunt to get in before the end of the year.

I'll look for that video, sounds exciting!

I'm looking at late season archery hunts for deer now. Still have a cow tag to fill in 32. Been out pheasant hunting with some success. Been doing more work than play lately so time in the field has been limited. How bout you?

I bagged a small buck this year - my first in four years. Elk hunting was not as I was hoping, but am optimistic for next season. I'm turning my focus to coyote hunting, now. My brother and I went up out of Weiser yesterday and hammered one - called at least four in on the only set up we did. We only saw two, but watching the video later we found four coyotes in the screen! If you go to our website tomorrow I'm going to put the video of that hunt up. It was fun - but cold and snowy!

Nice - well, good luck the rest of the season chasing the big bucks! I had an ok season - I finally put meat in the freezer after not having anything to show for the past four years. I mostly ran camera this fall, though - but my hopes were high this spring. I drew a spring bear tag, an antelope tag, and a mule deer tag - it would be the first time I got to hunt with a rifle in four years. Then, I only got to hunt bear one day because the snow took forever melting off the mountains this year and my antelope hunt (bow) was a bust. I just spent three days really learning how to hunt antelope with a bow - so it wasn't a total bust...I think if I get the opportunity to hunt them again, I'll be more prepared. Then the general archery elk season came and I spent most of the time behind the camera and only made it out for myself a couple days - only saw one elk. Elk hunting is awesome, though, and it's never a bust - regardless of whether or not I get anything! My rifle deer season was looking like it wasn't going to happen either as I spent three days of hiking about 20 miles each day and never saw a buck. I changed locations at the end of the season and bagged a small forked horn. I was pretty pleased! But, from a filming standpoint, we've captured two once in a lifetime hunts (Idaho mountain goat and Idaho moose) on camera and have gotten a few other hunts on film, too - so a pretty good fall, really!

Hey Tom that is awesome, just being out there is really great. I do know when you put all that time in the outdoors you want to show for it but all the excitement of just being there would be pretty great!

hey brother. i've come to the conclusion that the deer are either a whole lot smarter than i give them credit for or they have simply left my hunting paradise for an idiot on the other side of town. ain't seein' nothing partner....nothin! beginning to think the timber cutters next door actually ran them out, and originally i would have never admitted something like that. take care and talk soon.

Hope the deer have given you reason to change your mind. I'm sure they wouldn't leave you for the idiot across town, would they?! Hope the season is taking a turn for the better - let me know!

hey, i have made it to the gap. off for a week and headed to florida with the family monday...will be back following weekend. yep, 2 years in a row will miss opening day of gun season. as for the bow, haven't had a string of luck this year at home...the deer are just not participating on my property yet. i think the vacation away will do me some good. i'm actually ready for it this year. will be away until the return ... will check up with you when we get back. God bless and stay safe out there. hope all is great with the family.

I sent Steve an email and he said he would get back to you as soon as he can. He just got back from a 10 day hunt in OH, so he's been without email and Internet for a while.

My season is going pretty well. I shot a pretty good PA buck on Saturday. How's your season going?

Awesome - thanks for passing the message on! Nice job on getting a good buck Saturday...I've had a good season for filming hunts, but my hunts have kind of taken a beating because of it! I got a small buck near the end of the season is all. No elk this year, drew an antelope tag - but never got a shot, drew a spring bear tag, as well, but didn't see one. Have gotten a mountain goat hunt and a moose hunt on camera, though - so that kind of makes up for it!

Wow, that's awesome. Sometimes getting a great hunt on film is almost better than being on a great hunt yourself...ALMOST.

Hey - glad to find another Hunt Nut guy on here. I'm still working on getting Steve's interview put up on our site..been pretty crazy around here with hunting season and a total redesign on our site!

Thanks for the request!

That's cool. What interview is that? I want to check it out when you get it up.

Thanks.

I've been wanting to get this interview posted, but haven't received any pictures from Steve. I tried emailing him requesting them - haven't heard from him. If you can grab his ear, could you ask him to email Tom from Base Camp Legends a few pictures so I can run the interview? Also if he could give me a date you all expect to go live, I'll run that with the interview. I know Steve is probably as busy as he's ever been - so I understand if he can't get around to it. If not, I can just run the story without photos.

How's it all going? Having a good season?

Tom

Saw a forky and a spike this am.... on my way into work at 4:30 am. lol Yes the rut is sometime between vetrens day and thanks giving most years. I can't wait. These deer just aren't moving too much during the daylight hours right now. The weather is great and it is nice and cool out. Lots of tracks too. damn ghost deer anyway. I'm hoping to catch one all love sick before I hit a hundred hours this year. I didn't cash in until December 2nd last year. Well congrats on your buck. None of them come easy bow or rifle. But if it wasn't for the ole rifle I'd be eating tag stew a little more often.

Any luck? That's funny that you been seeing all those deer while driving - if only one would trot out in front of you while you're sitting in the tree stand, eh?

Hope all is well with the your little guy.

The little man is doing great! The bucks are starting to move through out the day a little better too. I got a look at four this past weekend only had one shot between all four that I saw. Ended up getting a little three point. Put a hole in a nice coyote too. Still at it everyones freezer is full so I'm looking for a big one now. You know how that goes I'll start seeing all the mediums now. lol

It's ended for me with no buck. Got a shot off at about 200 yards through some trees off-hand and didn't get him. I wish I had a mule deer tag instead because saw alot more of them then coues.

Hows your season coming along?

Bummer - guess that's the way it goes! My seasons are generally all over - time to focus on shooting coyotes for me! I enjoy hunting those predators about as much as anything - fun to call them on the run!

Thats exactly what I was planning to do. I saw a couple of bobcats and heard alot of coyotes. Like ya said time to huntem.
