I have pulled an archery hunt in CO for Elk. Being a novice, I am going to ask you experts what I need to do, buy, or take on the trip. I will start with the basic and follow this as it grows.

First, in the market for a new bow. Which one should I buy and why?

The 2009 legislative session has nearly come to an end in Tennessee and the unthinkable has happened; the legislature has passed numerous pro-gun bills and the anti-gunners are shaking in their boots. Based on the new laws, I can now go to my favorite pub, with a gun; then go to a state park packing around all of the children and lord knows what else. Here is what is not going to happen: there will not be massive shoot outs in bars; there will not be kids placed in danger while I walk through the parks and honestly there will be not much change. What may happen: one of the multiple gang bangers which have been having shoot outs in the parks will stop cause there may be some CCP holder there that would not take kindly to shoot outs by criminals; there may be some rapes or robberies that may be thwarted as some liquored up piece of crap may start his stuff in front of a CCP holder coming out of his/her favorite restaurant. Tennessee is the 38^th state to pass this legislation and one of only 8 to ban drinking and carrying the firearm. The anti-gunners need to take a chill pill. It was not the licensed carry holders that were shooting everyone to begin with, it was the criminal that was violating numerous gun laws while they shot everyone.

I listented to the radio station that carrys my show to an interesting gun discussion. While I wished the host and listeners had stayed to Tennessee Football, they chose guns tonight. The part I found most interesting was the amazing diversity of opinions. All three host felt that the people who believe the government would take their guns were ignorant. They did not really say this, but they did spend quite a bit of time mocking and making fun of the people who called with a Waco mentaility.

The Waco mentality callers were equally as ignorant about what really happens when a gun is bought. As usual, there were 1/4 truths in most every thing that was said. As my co-host Steve says often: ignorance is bliss unless it is on the radio.

Now for the record. I am a Benefactor NRA member (high as you can go). I believe the government can take any gun they want as well as any other freedom they choose because we, the people, will sit idlely by and let them. Think that's not true? How many calls have you made to your legislatures this year? President Obama and his staff have more than amply demonstrated their willingness to impose gun control. Don't belive me; look it up yourself. Holder, Immanuel & President Obama have records you can look into yourself.

I also know that gun control as most of us think about it will not occur. They will go after items such as micro-stamping, ammo tax, assault weapons ect. We will wake up without our rights and will have no one to blame but ourselves. You must stand your ground NOW. You democrats that I see with the bumper stickers that say "Democrat and Gun Owner" had better start calling now or your new bumper stickers will read "Democrat and Former Gun Owner"

I have marveled at the way guns are flying off the shelf. I have heard many excuses, but the sales started 11/5/08. Are the buyers being rational. Trying to maintain some neutrality on my radio show, I have not credited President Obama with increasing the sales, but what else can be said. The economy is a wreck at best, people are being laid off daily, but guns and ammo are being sold as soon as they hit the shelf. I was recently in a sponsors store and actually saw ammunition being taken off the pallet. The ammo never made the shelf. Is this rational or not?

Now, I am not going to say whether this is rational or not. I may have been guilty of buying a few boxes myself. I could have actually bought another gun or two since November. The facts are fairly clear. President Obama is not what I would call gun friendly. But he is not what really scares me. Attorney General Holder is a gun control advocate. This is where our rights are going to be infringed followed closely on the heals the Supreme Court will start moving left before this term is over. As a gun owner, you need to fight for your rights. How you choose to do so is up to you. I would suggest the following. If you are not a member of the NRA, join today. You need to call your congress person and senators now. Start communicating now and communicate often. If you don't, gun loss is close behind.
