Fishing is from May 15, 2009 until June 15, 2009, and competitors are allowed to fish anywhere and anytime during these dates.
The entry fee is $25 per person, and you must be registered by May 14, 2009. A signed copy of the rules and regulations are also required with your registration. Registration can either be done at East Side Bait & Tackle, or by mail at the below address. Checks need to be made out to Delta Waterfowl.

The winner is the person that catches the largest trout. This person will be awarded half of the total pot, from which half of the winnings will come in the form or cash and the other half in the form of a gift certificate to East Side Bait & Tackle. The other half of the pot will go towards helping The Tar-Pamlico Chapter of Delta Waterfowl with our fundraising efforts.
Rules and Regulations
- Each person must pay $25 to fish the tournament. Entry fees must be mailed to The Tar-Pamlico Chapter of Delta Waterfowl or brought to East Side Bait & Tackle, no later than May 14. Also, your signature on this document is required for entry.
- Fishing can take place anywhere and anytime from May 15, 2009 until June 15, 2009.
- Any fish that you would like to have weighed for the tournament must be brought to East Side Bait & Tackle to be weighed during their hours of operation. Monday – Thursday 6 am – 5:30 pm, Friday 6 am – 6 pm, and Saturday 6am – 12 pm. No frozen fish will be eligible for weigh-in, and we suggest keeping your fish on ice if they cannot be weighed the day they were caught.
- Fish can only be obtained by rod and reel or fly rod. Live, cut, or artificial bait is permitted. Cast nets may be used for bait only.
- Fish with gill net scars will not be eligible for weigh-in.
- Any fish that are questionable can be subject to examination by a marine biologist.
- Scoring will be based on pounds and ounces of the fisherman’s largest speckled trout. Fisherman can enter as many fish as they would like during the time of the tournament.
- Speckled Trout must be 12” long and you can only possess 10 per day.
- In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by the first person that had their fish weighed.
- All fishermen must comply with U.S. Coast Guard, N.C. Wildlife, Division of Marine Fisheries, and tournament rules and regulations.
- All fishermen over the age of 16 must posses all needed licenses. Fishing in these areas require a coastal recreational license. Fishing license can be purchased at East Side Tackle.
The act of fishing and boating comes with inherent risk. The Tar-Pamlico Chapter of Delta Waterfowl, Delta Waterfowl, and East Side Bait & Tackle are not held responsible for any accidents that might occur while you are involved in the fishing tournament.
