WEll, If I did not know any better I would say that turkey hunting is the easiest thing on earth. But, I know it can be difficult--Anyway, that was not the case for me and my first ever turkey hunting experience Yesterday (Monday, May 4th 2008). I drove my car down to a spot where I always see vehicles parked and guys hunting turkeys. I made a few calls and did not get a response. I drove a little farther to an intersection. This intersection is surrounded by public land and is only a mile from my house. I decided to give a few calls. I thought I heard a response so I shut the car off and called a few more times. Sure enough--Across the recently logged off section I heard him. I backed the car off the road ran into the woods and got into position. I called and he answered time and again. Then I saw him at about 80 yards. He moved within 40 and still coming. When he would go behind a tree I would call and he would answer again. Then he came to the left side of a tree (the side I did not want him on because then I would have to move my gun over a branch in front of me to tag him). Thankfully he decided to cut in front of me at 20 yards. I pegged him and I was done my hunt at 5:45. I walked in the door and told my wife I was done my hunt. She looked at me like I was crazy. "You got him already?" she said!!! It was a great hunt and a lot of fun. Hope to do it again. As with any hunting, after you kill the first one--You're hooked----WELL, I'M HOOKED ON TURKEYS---THIS TURKEY HAPPENED TO BE A GREAY BIRD-- HE had a 9 1/8th inch beard, He had just over inch long spurs, and he weighed about 17-18 pounds. I will throw a few pics up of him on my profile page. Hope your turkey season goes just as well. Joel Proffit Outdoor Music Man

Hello, You are on the blog of OUTDOOR MUSIC MAN. As you may be able to guess from my camospace name, I write, sing, and perform music solely based on the outdoors. My music is derived from experiences from hunting and fishing that I have had. Although my music is derived from my experiences, many who have heard it have commented that they are able to relate to the stories which are told in the songs. Some of the songs are humorous, some serious, some to get you to think, some to get you to laugh. If you are interested in checking out some of my music I will be putting it on this space. Also, you can go to JOELPROFFITMUSIC.com and check it out there as well. I have CD's, posters, and T-shirts for sale on the site. Just to give you an idea of the songs--Here are a few titles: Huntin' with Dad Huntin' and Fishin' wife Don't take it for granted I've Been Blessed In the Outdoors 7mm Remington Mag One Great Pair Take it with the Shoulder not the Head Mount the Meat; Eat the Horns I couldn't ask for a better day.
I have one CD that I am selling at this time. It is entitled, "From the Heart of a Country Boy". I will be finishing up another CD this summer. I will do performances at expo's, game dinners, retreats, etc. If interested, please give me a call. Another avenue that some may want to look into is that of advertisements using my music. I am willing to work out some deals if those in any outdoors industry would like to use some of my music for shows, commercials, etc. OR, you may be interested in getting a song written for advertisement for your specific business. This service is also available. Please contact me for more info. You can get in touch with me at Fishinmaniac@hotmail.com. Thanks for checking out the blog and God Bless.
Sincerely, OUTDOOR MUSIC MAN JOEL PROFFIT
