My wife and I were in the cornfield yesterday evening, hoping for a shot at some geese. We got run out of there in the morning by the lightning storm that accompanied the heavy rains we got here. Well, that afternoon, we were in high hopes that all would go well. We had one nice bunch of Canadas fly past, but way too far to shoot. It looked to be 25 or 30 geese in the flock. We also saw three bald eagles! I had no idea there were any around the field where we were hunting.

We heard some more geese off in the distance, when we heard something rustling in the corn right behind us. I figured it was a deer, since we'd seen a whole herd of deer in the corn. My wife slowly stood up and watched silently. She said there was something black in the corn, and maybe we'd better move on. We watched awhile longer, and it was now within 15 feet of us. Suddenly a bear popped his head up! We froze momentarily, until he bolted the other direction! Needless to say, we went the opposite direction, LOL. He wasn't a big bear, only about 200 pounds.  However, there's a bigger one in there that goes close to 400 pounds.  Hey, do y'all have bears where y'all live? When that old boy shows up, it's time to let him have the run of the place!!!

It may be a lot later than we think it is, folks.  There is so much happening on the national and world fronts-- How many of you think this socialized health care program is right for us?  Would you want our senior citizens left with no medical care, or worse, being euthanised?  (WE ALL WILL BE OLD SOMEDAY)... How about our soldiers and emergency personnel, who have been wounded and lost limbs?  Would you want to see them put to death, so the government wouldn't have to cover their healthcare?  Remember, the idea of a Supreme Race....

How about the youth camps that our government is wanting to implement?  Can anyone here recall the Nazi Youth programs of Hitler during WWII?  What about those 3 dozen regulatory czars?  There have never been any of them here in America-- but Hitler had them (I E, the Nazi SS).  What about thousand- page- plus bills, that get signed into law, yet nobody has read???  And how about trying to disarm us gun owners, first by limiting the ammo available, then banning the guns.  This is something they are trying desperately to accomplish, make no mistake about it!!  Can anyone spell TYRANNY or SOCIALISM?

Looks to me like we're headed that direction, and guess what??  More than half of supposedly INTELLIGENT AMERICANS voted for it.  Everything that the Chosen One decides to do, HE GETS DONE.  Look at how Pelosi and some of the key liberals foam at the mouth, at anyone who dares to question the purpose and intent of their propaganda?  Why are they pushing all these things through at record-breaking speed?  It's a collision course for absolute disaster!

I don't have any answers, guys.  I'm just a dumb country guy who would be happy fishing and hunting for the rest of my life. But I would enjoy hearing your thoughts.  Feel free to reply....

Ron

Well, in light of all that the liberals have done already, to discredit and tear down our great nation, I guess it only follows that an anti-gun, racist Hispanic would be confirmed to the Supreme Court.  This is a lifetime appointment, guys.  She has already shown that she doesn't believe in equality for everyone.  And she refuses to comment on her abortion stands because the antichrist hasn't told her how to stand, yet.

Can you feel the frustration???

We figured that nobody could afford this baby, unless he was a very well-heeled individual.  LAST NIGHT the bid was $17,100 with over five days of bidding left!!!!!  Who ever thought that hunting was a sport that could be accomplished in a fair and equal basis?  The ending bid should be very interesting to see, indeed!

Ron

I think I hit the jackpot today.  As we all know, ammo has become scarce.  Naturally, enterprising AMERICAN citizens have found a way to handle this.  They bought it all up..... they have plenty money to do so.  So, WHY NOT???  Go and look for yourselves.  Gunbroker has TWENTY-FIVE PAGES of just 9MM pistol ammo.  Goodness knows how many pages of our common calibers for hunting, like 30-06, 270, 243......  And if you're not pissed, then look at the PRICES.  I'm telling you, hunting and outdoor sports are going the way of the rich man.  Making a profit is fine, but raping all of us sportsmen??  I think this is going too far.  I rate these folks right along with terrorists.  Opinions, anyone???

My wife bought a Cuddeback trail camera last September.  It always took wonderful pictures in the daytime, but it never took any nighttime pics.  All we got was black images.  Well, nine days ago we sent it back to Cuddeback for repairs.  Today it arrived, a brand new camera.  And this one works in the dark, LOL.  They never asked a question, but replaced the camera and paid return shipping.  Now THAT is a guarantee that I can live with!!  If anyone is considering buying a trailcam, I highly recommend Cuddeback!!

I need your input here.  I hate having to stoop to shooting steel shot, but it's the law.  What steel shot do y'all find works the best?

I know about Hevi-Shot.  And I know that Remington Wingmaster HD is probably among the best, but both are very expensive.  I'm thinking Federal Black Cloud right now.  What about Tungsten Super Shot?  I don't know anything about it yet.

Your opinions are welcomed!!

To all our veterans, past, present, and future.... I salute you.  Without your sacrifice and your blood, sweat, and tears, we would not be a free country today.  The price of freedom is very high, but you veterans have paid that price.  Words cannot express my gratitude.  May God bless and keep you all!

Where we live, we're miles from cable or DSL.  We had to endure 28.8 dialup. which wouldn't pull this website up.  Our only choice was HughesNet, which works just fine-- but has very limited bandwidth.   So, some of y'all's web pages with all the scrolling pictures and songs playing are still too much and I have to go elsewhere.  Sorry, but they only give us 300 megabyte bandwidth.  If you have cable or DSL, you have no idea how lucky you are.

My wife and I doubled today on turkeys.  Only jakes, but they will be mighty tasty!  They weighed 15 1/2 pounds each and mine had a double jake beard.  I think I'll warm my grill up tomorrow!!

What was really  great was that we killed these two turkeys right out from under the nose of a spiteful guy who owns a piece of land adjoining the one we were hunting on.  He is  anti-hunting and a conservative-hating liberal.  He always drives his four-wheeler all around the areas where we are trying to hunt.  This is to scare the birds away, so we won't get a shot at them.  He has pulled a gun on a friend of ours, who also hunts there from time to time.  Well, today he messed up and his scare tactics actually helped drive the birds to us!!  LOL  They came to our decoys and our Remington 11-87's did the rest.  It has been a good day!

When I was a small boy, I started hunting with my father and relatives.  The upland game was abundant, because everyone farmed in those days.  Bobwhites and doves were plentiful, and it was great sport to hunt them.  Nobody cared if you crossed their property or hunted on it, for that matter.  Everyone was respectful of the property of others in those days.  Duck hunting was my favorite sport, and will remain as such for the rest of my life.

There were a few deer in the deep woods, but nothing like there is today.  With all the game rules and regulations, wildlife has really rebounded.  I hunted from the time I was eight years old until I left Louisiana in 1991 (33 years) and never saw a wild turkey.  They had been extincted from that entire area many years earlier.  But today, with restocking and rigid game laws, turkeys have returned.

And all those places we used to hunt?  They are all fenced up and privately owned now.  We are fenced out of all of them.  Most are big properties of hunting leases.  If you don't have the money to afford to pay to hunt, or know someone, then you are pretty-much out of luck.

Today, there is a ceaseless procession of the newest, the latest, the best innovations that are designed to help you to "get that trophy of a lifetime."  Many are great and I'm guilty of falling for a few myself.  But what good does all that do you, if you can't find a decent place to hunt?  I saw one of our big TV celebrities the other day as he stated that he had access to FOUR MILLION ACRES of prime hunting leases.  Of course, he films his hunts for TV.  It is his life, his living.  Guess who pays for it?

But what about all the rest of us?  Where will we go?  Will we spend several thousand dollars for one guided hunt a year?  And that's all we get to hunt?  I hunted every day of the season when I was growing up, except for Sundays.  My father wouldn't allow that.  It seems to me that more and more land is bought up or leased all the time by hunting outfitters.  Why?  Because they can charge you to make a guided hunt there.  I have no problem with this, but will this be THE ONLY WAY to make hunts in the future?  What about our children, and THEIR children?  Will the only hunting lands they get to see be property of clubs?

I know many of y'all out there disagree with me and my thoughts.  But we are seeing a drastic move in America towards Socialism, which is just a short step from Communism.  If all our lands get posted and we can't hunt on them, isn't this kind of like socialism itself?

You say there are still public lands out there.  Yeah, but with millions of hunters trying to use them, can you forsee loss of quality in hunting results?  I welcome your thoughts on these matters.

Long ago and far away (mid-1960's) when I was in high school, things were different.  I attended a large high school with a graduating class of 1300 seniors.  Every pickup truck in those big student parking lots had a 3-place gunrack in the rear window.  There was almost always a 12-guage shotgun, a 30-30 rifle, and a 22 rifle in each vehicle.  Nobody ever took a gun out, or stole one, or committed a crime using one.  We didn't even lock our vehicles in those days.

Nowadays, the mere MENTION of the word GUN or HUNTING immediately brings about gasps of horror and alarm among mainstream America.  On every corner, we find politicians lobbying against private gun ownership, and looking for stiffer regulations on us decent, law-abiding citizens.  They think that a gun is designed only to kill another person with.  But we know differently, that they are only tools, and can do either good or evil.  It all depends on who is using the gun.

If you are involved in a car wreck, and the other driver is driving a Ford, do you sue Ford Motor Company for your compensation?  Of course not.  What the government wants is a flock of sheep, who work until they die, pay huge taxes, and ask no questions.  If we allow them the power to do so, we will surely lose our God-given rights of gun ownership and also the ways and means to feed ourselves, should some great disaster occur someday.

We must remain ever-vigilant and vote against more regulations.  We must stand up for what is right before the present administration strips these rights and freedoms from us.  We are already leaning heavily towards Socialism.... don't let us be plunged into something worse.

Does anyone here use Duck Commander duck calls?  My wife and I have a few assorted calls made by the Duck Commander himself (with help from his family).  We love them and I absolutely believe that they will call any duck in close enough for him to commit suicide in front of my new Remington Supermag!  You just have to BELIEVE in your calling skills!

My wife and I didn't get anything this weekend of bowhunting, other than having close calls with a huge flock of turkeys.  Nope, we didn't get a shot at them, either!  LOL  We'd been in our stand a few minutes when we were beset by a cloud of mosquitos, gnats, and a few yellojackets.  I was skeptical of this new-fangled ThermaCell mosquito repellent device..... but I sure found out quick that this thing works!  Through two days in the stand, we didn't get bit one time by anything.  They didn't even light on us!  If y'all plan to spend time out there without worrying about those winged pests, I highly recommend ThermaCell.  It's absolutely great!

I've been voting for a long long time now, and I've noticed something very important. This upcoming election is going to be the most important one of our lives. It's not just an election though, it's a BATTLE. For my entire lifetime, forces have been trying to disarm American citizens.  This time, they can very easily succeed.

Who gets into the oval office is not predetermined. We have voices, no matter how small they may be. We must vote in order to let those candidates know our hearts. I'm no political person, just a very simple-minded country boy who is also a gun owner, collector and hunter, and who is very upset by all of the beaurecrats who want to take my constitutional rights from me. They have already taken many gun rights from the citizens of some states like California, to use as one example. What right does some oppressive government have, anyhow? We voters empower them so they can only do as we direct them to do.

Friends, I don't care who is Democratic or Republican (or third party), I just think we all need to look deeply inside our minds and hearts, and KNOW what we feel. If we love having guns and ammo, and enjoy conceal-carry rights for self-defense, and collecting firearms, and hunting in general, then we must do our best to keep the wave of anti-gunners out of the white house and out of the government's voice. Obama and Biden are rabid anti-gunners. They have proven this fact many times, and will also replace those Supreme Court justices who voted in favor of our Second Amendment rights with justices who are sympathetic with their own hidden agendas.

McCain and Palin are perhaps the most pro-gun leaders we've ever had running for the white house, whereas Obama and Biden are the most anti-gun. I'm really concerned about the outcome that we might suffer if Obama becomes president.

Please remember that McCain and Palin DID NOT get us into the near-depression state that America is in right now. They are not responsible for the exhorbitant gasoline prices that have crippled America. And they are not responsible for those twelve million-plus illegal aliens who have come into our country and taken our jobs, our money, our free medical treatment, our tax-free pampering, and our housing. But I put my faith and trust into McCain and Palin to try their best to get us out of this ridiculous mess.

I'm sorry for such a rant, folks, but we cannot continue to overlook this impending fight. If the wrong people get elected, EVERYONE loses. Not just the Republicans or the third party folks. We all do. The only reason why America is still a free Democracy today is because of private gun ownership. Without our weapons, we'd have been an occupied nation long ago (remember Nazi Germany). Our constitutional rights are just that-- OUR GOD-GIVEN RIGHTS. They have been now for over 200 years, fought over at great cost of blood, sweat, and tears. Right now they are at stake. Are you ready to give them up?
