I CAN'T WAIT FOR SCHOOL TO END. Two more full weeks to go. I want it to end so i don't have to get up at 6:00 on weekdays and so i can start making the money. With golf and planning on buying a gun i will blow through that money rather quickly. I guess it will be well spent though. BREAKING NEWS: The New and Old Testimate are out for this year. (Bass Pro shops and Cabela's catalogs). Turkey season isn't even over yet and I can't wait for bow season to open back up. Maybe this will finally be the weekend i can score on a thunderchicken and i will be back and blogging my story.
Today was the third weekend of Pa's spring turkey season. I awoke to the sound of rain which wasn't a good sign. I checked the radar and it didn't appear to be stopping anytime soon. Instead of driving 45 minuets to our normal spot we decided to go to a new place. The only scouting we have done in this area was a brief walk last weekend. During this walk we saw turkey tracks along the one gas well road so this morning that is where we decided to set up. It was around 6:30 when we finally got all situated. I began calling, all the time i was doubting our chances. The rain let up a little so i got out my plastic tipped striker and my Primos Jackpot with glass. After about 3 sequences with the call a hen started to respond. She finally started coming with a jake in tow. They got to about 40-50 yards an hung up. I couldn't shoot because the gun i have is an old single shot that is only good for about 25 yards. Also, i probably called too much. The hen gradually moved off to our right and after a few more seconds so did the jake. After another hour or so of calling we called it quits because of the rain. I guess that is why they call it hunting. Hopefully next week, it will come altogether.
I would like to say hello to all of you out there on camospace. Little background on myself. I am high school student that loves to hunt. I primarly hunt turkeys and deer, but if an opportunity opens to hunt other game i will do so. Currently it is PA's spring turkey season. Hope to get a bird this weekend. One, because it will be awesome and two because gas cost so much to drive 45 min every weekend to get to our hunting area. Along with hunting i also like to shoot 3d archery at our local clubs. Well, i am off to do other things. Hopefully i will be back blogging about my sucessful turkey hunt sometime saturday.
