Well, I hunted hard the last 5 days...it was my first time turkey hunting ever. The first two days I called and helped my father and we had gobblers come into us both days. The first day one came in and stopped bout 200 yds away and would come any farther and went back into the woods. The next day we were in the woods instead of a blind and had a hen coming through with a tom behind and the hen started walking away from us and dad took a shot (with the scattergun) through a very brushy area bout 35-40yds away and missed the gobbler. The next day was my first day by myself and I setup in my DB Blind and had the camera and bow in hand. I will attach the video link regarding that hunt below. I also went out the next day and had a nice tom at 30 yds and I hit my blind with my arrow and the arrow went just over the bird. Seen a few hens on the final day and called her quits at bout 2:30. Well as we were on our way home dad and I spotted a few hens in a field near our house and stopped and I glassed a bit. Well low and behold there was a tom strutting back in the woods. Dad had the plat book in his truck so we looked up who owned the land and went and asked permission. They were just leaving there house, luckily we got there in time. They said no prob! :-) So we went back quick and I grabbed my DB Blind just in case and my Badland Ultra Day Pack with everything I needed in it and a hen decoy. Well we snuck up along the field down in a wet drainage ditch till we got to the hens and gobbler. Dad went and snuck up to the woods and I stayed back in the field. The birds were in the field in front of my dad. I hid behind a decoy in the other field and starting calling for dad. As I did that the gobbler got really interested and starting coming right to me. Dad was 20 yds in front of me and the gobbler walked 20 yds in front of him and dad got on his knees the gobbler heard me call again and as the gobbler looked up, dad shot him!! It was awesome! It was a great stalk and a awesome first turkey season! I will attach some pics also!
