Lucky you! I used to be in a dog club in Williamsburg County, that opened on Sept. 1st. That's the earliest I've ever hunted. I have some family in Florence county, but it opens on Sept. 15th for guns. I have to wait until Sept. 15th for our archery season to open. No chance for a velvet buck here. I know what you mean. I've never tried the coon hunt thing, but I do know about deer in the marsh. I go to Bull Island every year, and there is a lot of action in the marsh, but it's all archery hunting.
