Thanks for the add. I have some friends who run in fox pens also. I was talking to one friend last week who said he wanted me to go to his club this fall with him. I may go. He says this may be his last year running dogs because his dues are $950, and it'll cost him around $150 a weekend to fuel up. Dog driving seems to be a dying sport in SC. I hate to see it end.
I think with the gas prices a lot of things are going to be dying out. It's a shame.. Here in Florida yesterday gas (for regular) was over $3.90 a gallon. At least I know us here at camospace, can do as Michael Waddell says.. Do (some) grocery shoppin' in the woods!! (meat wise anyways!) It may resort to that! I hope not but, you have to do what you have to do to feed your family. We are already out of meat from this year's harvests. Well I've got to run for a bit! Have a great one! This gas thing is getting outrageous. We're at $3.60 a gallon. I only have a few packs of cube left. All I can say is "come on archery season!"
Hey! I just sent you a friends request. I started out runnin'dogs myself in the lower part of S.C. My grandfather is to blame for that. I don't do it very much anymore though. I go to the Savannah River Site once every year and hunt with dogs. We can't run dogs for deer here in the Piedmont of S.C. so we just still hunt. Dog driving is by far the most exciting way to hunt.
It really is!! My Dad use to hunt in Yamassee (I think thats how you spell it) South Carolina and run dogs there, but that was Years and years ago. My brothers still run dogs, their dogs are in a pen out in the corner of my property. They have walkers and beagles. During the off season they take them to the "Fox Pen" and let them run. They have some jam up crackerjack dogs!! Thanks for the friends request! Keep in touch!
