Turkey season is among us in Maryland. Remember to stay quiet, don't move and cover up.
Spring tip: Make the lead hen fight you in your calls and she will come after you. The gobbler will chase the lead hen and that is how you get them henned up gobblers to come out and play :)
Yeah, we just cooked a 60lber I shot bout a month ago. Those little ones are tasty. My dads tryin to get me to trophy hunt more and shoot some big ones. I told him I would when our freezer's full. We are down to only 1 45lb hog in the freezer and he expects me to not shoot the little ones! I don't think so.
You're right, those biguns don't taste near as well as them lil yunguns. I haven't killed a hog in several years. They've gotten smart and don't show themselves til after dark where I hunt. This past season I had a close call, saw 14 one afternoon right before dark but none within bow range. I was very disappointed because I hadn't had any in a while. Good luck bud.
Its good to hear from someone else from Louisiana. I definately miss livin back there. The duck and deer huntin was so much better than here in Florida. The only thing we have to hunt that is alotta fun are tons of wild hogs. They are everywhere!
Those hogs are some kinda fun to hunt. And I'd trade you a deer for a hog when it comes to eating. Not a whole lot out there that tastes better than them ole rooters.
I was born and lived in Metairie, but I spent my summers and went huntin and fishin outta abbeville near lafayette.
Good to meet a native. I live just north of Lake Charles in a community called Ragley, but I was born and raised in central LA in a town called Bunkie. Glad to meet you.
