Its almost here ... my elk season for this year! I have already been out scouting and have recieved first hand information from the hunts going on right now. I have seen more big deer this year than ever before and thats a good thing! My deer hunt starts the day my elk hunt ends. YAY 2 full weeks hunting... what could be better? I worked an event last weeked for the Illinois Hunting and Fishing Days program at Silver Springs State Park.
The Illinois BASS federation (a chapter of BASS national) was selling raffle tickets for THE "MAKE A WISH" FOUNDATION.

My son David has been in stand with me in the past but has never actually hunted until this weekend. And it started out with a ton of action. Shortly after getting into our buddy ladder stand, a doe comes walking out of the cornfield about 100 yards away and slowly begins her meandering walk down a two track that skirts the woods we are sitting in.
