Pennsylvania - Game Land Work Day Elk County

The Game Commission recently finalized the purchase of about 6500 acres here in Elk County. Much of that land had been closed to public hunting for many years due to be part of a hunting lease. That land had been, and still is, bordered with “No Trespassing” signs.

Some people have stated that they would volunteer some time to help remove those signs. In order to make this an orderly and organized action LMO Dzemyan has agreed to set up a work day to remove the old “No Trespassing” signs... Read More

I AM VERY HAPPY to report that I just got the green light after some discussion with the PAGC land manager here to start enlisting folks for a project.

Location: Beautiful SGL 029 , Warren County, PA near Hearts Content

Date: Saturday September 13,2008, time TBA

Project: To remove 3 sections of deer fencing that has served its purpose and is ready to come down to allow both deer and hunters better access to the area.

There is a scheduled tour on SGL 145, near Mt Gretna, Lebanon County for Saturday September 13, 2008 at 9 AM. The following is a list of items that may be covered on the tour:

PA Senate License Hunting Increase Hearing

Earlier this week, the Pennsylvania Senates' Game and Fish Committee held the first of several hearings on increasing hunting license fees.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission has not had a license increase in nearly ten years. The last in 1999. Currently the base license that includes:

Small game
Upland Game
Fall and Spring Turkey stamps
One antlered deer tag

Costs $19 with a $1 processing fee for a resident adult license.
