Why Whitetails May or May Not move...
Posted On 07/23/2008 21:20:58 by sjohnson111
Whitetail deer have mastered the skills of survival. They have incredible senses and quickly learn how to avoid danger. There are many reasons deer stay in bed on any given day, learning more about why and when they may decide to stay put can help you become a more successful hunter.

Weather can have a strong influence on deer movement. On days where the wind is blowing above 10mph deer movement seems to slow drastically. Of course if 15mph winds are normal for your area, this will have... Read More

Archery Deer Coming Up Fast!
Posted On 07/16/2008 16:56:54 by Sheila-Marie
Archery deer is coming up fast. I've been out practicing every evening. I was supposed to go to a 3-D archery shoot this weekend up near Flagstaff, but unfortunately, circumstances are going to prevent me again! (this is the third time this year I have missed a shoot! ) I want to be totally prepared this year. Last year I missed an up hill 50 yard shot! (but not by much!) It was a beautiful winter day on December 1st in New York State! I proceeded out of my door at 7:00 am to my favorite hunting spot. The previous owners of the farm had a very strict policy that continued through the generations into the new millennium. The words "NO HUNTING" were prominently displayed... Read More

Hey y’all.  Last time I spoke about “good” hunting rifles that hunters on a budget should consider. I appreciate the response I received. It seems there is no shortage of folks who cannot spend $900 – 1200 on a hunting rifle. The problem has been getting reliable comparisons and information on weapons in the working person’s spendable range. I did hear from a couple folks that thought I was off base and that quality firearms are not expensive because they hold their value, are bui... Read More

White Deer
Posted On 07/03/2008 22:58:29 by camogal
There has been a white deer hanging out in a field by my house. It is there every nite around 8:30 pm. I would like to shoot it in hunting season, but a couple of guys are telling me that it is bad luck and that I shouldn't do it. Has anyone ever heard about this being bad luck? They are telling me stories of guys that haven't shot a deer again after shooting a white deer. Should I be worried?... Read More
