My musical interests include Southern Gospel, Southern Rock (Skynyrd, .38 Special, CCR), Blue Grass, Jazz, Blues, Classical and SOME instrumental New Age (Yanni, etc).

This by all means is not a complete list of my musical interest but a somewhat rounded selection.

I read a wide variety of subjects and have anywhere between 5 to 7 books that I am reading at any given time. Though I read almost anything, my interests are... you guessed it... nearly anything related to hunting, shooting, fishing, history (US War Between the States- and NO! it was NOT a civil war as this nation has NEVER had a "Civil War"!), firearms and taxidermy. I also read a great deal of Christian books.

Because I am self-employed as a computer "geek" (whatever a "geek" is), I read just about everything I can get my hands on relating to the field.

Well, as you can already tell, I enjoy the outdoors and the shooting sports. My first love is the bow and I hunt and target shoot with Browning bows. They're older but my Browning Excellorator II and Browning Mirage Hunter SL have been my go-to staples. I prefer the recurve and long bow but I had to transition to compounds after I was injured in a car accident. The Browings equipped with Thunderhead 125gr 3-blade broadheads have NEVER let me down when in the clutch!

I blackpowder hunt with traditional style precussion cap muskets. Currently, my favorite in the woods is a .50 CVA Mountain Rifle with double-set triggers. I also turkey hunt with a CVA Brittany Double-barrel 12 Gauge blackpowder shotgun. Other muskets include a .50 CVA Frontier Kit Rifle, reproductions of a .58 CS Richmond and .58 Enfield and a .44 Confederate Navy revolver by Navy Arms.

For modern shooting, I love my Remington Sportsman 78 .30-06, Remington Model 7 .243 and my Winchester Model 70 7mm RemMag bolt-actions loaded with Hornady Customs for big game such as deer and hawg hunting, Mossberg 500A 12 gauge pump for turkey and upland birds and Mossberg Model 640KC .22 magnum for small game. My daughter is a killer with her Winchester 1300 20 Gauge Pump, and her Mossberg 100ATR .243, and Chipmunk .22LR bolt-action rifles.

For what it's worth, I have a dream of one day being able to harvest a turkey with a slingshot but, so far, I haven't managed to get one in close enough for the shot... even a bow can reach out there and hit them at ranges beyond that of a slingshot!

Prefer hunting, fishing, camping and most outdoor type programming on Outdoors Channel and Versus. I also enjoy the History Channel, Animal Planet and the cooking programs. I'm not really into the "sports" scene (college and pro) but keep up with the SEC (South Eastern Conference) just enough to get myself in trouble. My daughter swims so I try to keep up with what's ongoing in that field.

My Papa (my grandfather) is my absolute hero! He's the only father I ever knew and taught me just about everything I know about hunting and fishing. He was the preiminent turkey hunter, having harvested more than 300 turkeys in his life, and probably forgot more about turkey hunting than most of us will ever hope to know. He passed away in 1997 at the age of 89 and I miss him dearly.

Other heroes are General Robert Edward Lee, CSA and Lt. General Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson. Other than Jesus Christ, there have been no greater men of Faith, Integrity and Character. Oh that we should imulate such virtues in our everyday walk through life!

nassaurebel 's 1st of 3 days on Thomas Creek WMA: The good: found the rub line for a very nice NE Fla buck (see pics in My Gallery)! The BAD: LCD display on cam broke and couldn't shoot what I wanted!

About me??? Not much to say here... where to begin???

Well... first, my wife says the Pod People came and took me away. She tells me to come back to the light. Like with Star Wars, she says I have officially gone to the dark side because I have finally subscribed to a "social networking" site... even if it is for hunting, fishing and the outdoors.

I grew up on a farm near Bryceville in Nassau County, Florida. I am a true native with part of my family having been in Florida before Statehood.

I love to hunt just about anything but prefer turkey hunting. Papa had me in the turkey woods before I could walk and I duplicated that in my daughter. We love to spend time in the woods, just being with each other and taking in God's awesome creation! One of my single biggest thrills is to see to the success of other hunters, especially first time hunters or those who might have some issue which prevents them from being able to enjoy hunting and fishing normally. I am a volunteer Hunter Firearms Safety Instructor with the Florida Wildlife Commision.

I love history, especially US history, and I re-enact as a Southern/Confederate soldier. Because of this love of history, I am also involved in genealogy and am a member of several heritage organizations.

College was a dual major for me with Wildlife Conservation, History and American Federal Government.

I am self-employed in the computer field though this economy has definitely taken it's toll here of late.

Church and God are a very real and important part of my life and family. It is my faith that has carried me through the most extreme and harshest times in my life. When everything and everyone else has failed me, God has been there to lift me and my daughter up and to see us through.

Fraternally, I am a life member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV), NRA and Phi Theta Kappa, and a "Trophy Life Member" of North American Hunt Club. I am also a member of Duval Lodge #159, F&AM.

That's great news about your son! My best to both of you and I hope he snags a really nice one this year.

Thanks right now his drugs are talking, it will be a few weeks before we get him back in the woods. But his knee is doing better, the doc said the surgery couldn't wait, chance of a pinch blood vein.

True that the drugs can and do make people say things and think they can do things they are physically limited to at the time. Good thing is that he's doing ok and does want to get back into the woods. Glad to hear that things are good.

Yes it's great that he is doing good. And thanks for the prayers partner.

That's what we're here for... to lift each other up!

That's right, You are still on the prayer list with your knee. I'm still praying you can make till the first of the year.

Thanks... you don't know how much that means or how much I really need and appreciate it. It truly means a lot!
Like you said before, all the hunter and huntress are here to support each other. And if we're not in the woods who else is going to be there.

Sorry to hear of your son's knee probs. I'm there with y'all; just hoping to try and make the first week in January 2010 brfoe getting my left knee replacement. May be we can all get one for him!

Find some place that you can help him get to and let nature do the rest... he'll heal a lot quicker if he can get out, too.

Thankfully he already got his buck here in Ks. But because I've had both my knees replaced, I have plenty of wheel chairs and a blind. So turkey season next week my be dad pushing and caring all at the same time. I hope you can make it until January before you get your replacement. We will have you in our prayers and thoughts.

We'll definitely jeep y'all in our prayers and thoughts as well! I've had 3 previous knee surgeries and they're no fun and dealing with a full replacement, from what I hear, is no fun either. I hope and pray that y'all get those tree-hanging longbeards!

Thanks for the prayers and thoughts as I need every bit I can get. Our Spring turkey season begins the last week in March and goes through the end of April. If I can get the surgery done the first or second week in January, I should be back in the woods in time for the Spring Season.

Y'all take care and let me know if there's anything we can do from here in NE Florida.
Thank you.

You guys ready to give some high speed lead poisoning up the in N.FL???

Gettin there... I just bought a new all-weather suit, new snake boots (LOL- speaking of snake boots; my old ones were starting to fall apart and had lost their water repellency) and FINALLY broke down and bought a new treestand as my old ones were stolen years ago and I never got to replace them. Combine that with my .30-06 or my 7mm RemMag and I THINK I'm ready to smoke some venison. How 'bout y'all down there???

I just shoot sticks anymore. I have a 6pt and hog under my belt already...I leave the gun hunting for the boy.

Hey Man... That 7'3" snake was taken about 25 miles from my house. I was on my way back from South Carolina when my wife sent me a phone text message about it. I know that area and can't help but wonder how many cats and small dogs had been reported as / came up missing before they finally caught this thing. His head was half again as big as my fist! As you can see, they used a flounder gig to kill it.

Biggest one I've ever seen. I killed some big ones up that way, but nothing close to that. Like to see someone demo snakeproof boots with that dude!LOL

ROFL!!! Now I would love to see THAT demonstration. That snake handler would be having to check his drawers once he saw that big boy. Like Bill Engval would say, he "just hit a deer!" That demo would require someone wearing snake WADERS... knee-high snake proofs would be a joke, doncha know!

LMAO!! Completely!
