hey have you ever fished at rush island in festus? me and a buddy went there last night and fished from 5 till midnight and only caught one fish, a 2 pound flathead lol... but i did have a nice one snap my cajun 40lb line like it was 10... maybe you could shoot me some tips...
Use braided line 65 lb test or better. Use wire leaders. If a big fish gets on and starts rolling, the wire will save you. And use circle hooks. 90 percent of the time the fish will hook itself. And use slip sinkers, I like the flat ones.
Hope this helps!
you like the same things as i ,huntin' fishin' 4-wheelin' just anything outdoors, and the partyin' with friends///well i've got a few years on ya but that don't slow me down (yet)hahaha
do they live in lake timberline? thats like 10 miles from my house... but i was lookin on down the river i found a town called thomure... its pretty much straight across from me so hopefully ill find a boat ramp i think ill try the shad
Try using big chunks rather than going on the skimpy side. You can catch skipjack and shad if you know how to throw a cast net, if your going to throw in the river don't get a real expensive net. If you want to try catching your own bait with a cast net, throw in front of moored barges for skipjack. For shad try slow moving or slack water. Hope this helps. Yes, my friends live in lake timberline.
hey i live just south of you in st. francois county ( farmington, park hills area)... i was just wondering where you caught them nice catfish. me and a buddy of mine were thinking about takin a trip to the Mississippi, but were not sure exactly where to go. trade ya some trappin tips, for cat tips
Actually I caught them on the Missouri. But I have been fishing the Mississippi every weekend. The bite is off. The water temp needs to get back to 84/85 degrees. The rain and cool nights have not helped. I use cut bait skipjack or shad, nightcrawlers can catch some good fish too, but you also catch a lot of drum . Fish the main Chanel ,look for deep holes 25 to 35 feet or deeper if yo can find it. I have been fishing around Alton IL, There is a good ramp there. I have some friends out your way, they live in Timberline.
