Some of the things I like to do are going out to dinner, live music, reading sci-fi/fantasy, going to movies, shooting pool, hunting and fishing, Archery, 3D Archery competitions, Hiking and anything outdoors. Love the mountains. I work in the I.T. field so I am a computer geek/country boy. Yeah I know. Weird combination aint it?
Do you shoot strictly traditional, or do you dabble in compound as well? I'm just finding myself more and more drawn to the recurve and long bows, but I'm afraid I'd just never pick up on the whole deal...it seems to be a dying talent - especially among the younger generation like myself. What are your thoughts?
I strictly shoot recurves and longbows. I dont think I have ever shot a compound in my life. Its a blast but takes a lot of dedication and practice. But the rewards are worth it.
The traditional archery world is larger than one might think. We just sort of keep to ourselves. Check out websites like stickbow.com and tradgang.com and tradtalk.com for more info.
I figured that the traditional shooters world has a good number of people, but I am surprised that there would be many youngsters getting into it. I kind of thought that the younger generation was all heading for the compounds! I'll have to give it a whirl sometime - I know I'd like it a lot, right now I like my compound a lot too, though!

Computer geek/country boy? Well, I reckon that's a weird combo, alright - but I'll be it's becoming more and more common these days! I would classify myself as a tech nerd and country boy - close enough, right?
when you are hunting with a longbow, about what distance do think is your cut off range, the greatest distance you feel that you can put a good shot on a deer?
wow!........ i have never shot a long bow, i bet it would be hard. i think i will stick to my compound!, i am a very good shot with it, i have killed rabbits with it before! and nice to meet you.
