I retired from the Columbus Ohio police Department 15 year ago. I now work in a large shooting supply store, If you want you can check the store out by googling "Vances shooting supply"
I like my work and I get to see all the new stuff before anyone, I leave alot of my paycheck at the store because of that.
I shoot everything and fih as much as I can. I do a little competition shooting and fishing but I do not win often. I did win the Cooper Rifle one shot compitition a couple of years ago but I mostly just try and have fun and meet new people.

If you did not help your friend, you would not be a friend. In my hunting group this has happened just a couple of times in over the past 30 years but we have always jumped in and helped. Usualloy just providing work we didn't need done so our friend would not feel like it was just a handout. He would never take a handout just too much pride. While I am almost 60 and have raised my children and finally have some money I know if something really unpredictible happened my friends would be there for me. My wife also knows if som ething were to happen to me there would be several people she could call and they would be there ASAP. We have been friends and hunted together for over thirty years all over the country, brothers with different mothers.

I really like your answer really good.. I posted this as a poll question 3 months ago and never got one vote so I put it in here and got 3 in no time... thank you....

I went to the week of bow season and even with the lighter limbs I could not pull the bow, too much pain. Idn't want to reinjure the shoulder so I played with the squirrels, crows and tried to find some hogs all with very little success. I left camp early bored and dejected.

I'm so sorry to hear that your shoulder still hasn't healed enough for you to bow hunt! I can only imagine how frustrating and disappointing that must be. It makes me so sad for you. I've been off work since Tuesday because I have some sort of virus that made me break out in spots all over and the doctor was afraid it might be contagious. They called me earlier with the results of the blood tests and said that thankfully, I do not have chickenpox. They think it's just some strange little virus that no one knows the cause of. But in any event, the spots are going away and I've had a pretty relaxing week at home. I've been working some and trying to take care of some things that my husband has been after me to do for months.....like refinance our mortgage at a lower interest rate and fewer years to pay. So, at least I've been fairly productive in some respects anyway.

Our regular gun season opens here tomorrow and I'm excited about that. The way our seasons are setup here, we have a week of no hunting between when muzzleloading season goes out and when regular gun season begins....so of all the weeks for me to be at home with nothing to do... I had to get the one where there was NO hunting season open. LOL!

Maybe you should take up wildlife photography since your shoulder isn't being nice to you and letting you hunt right now. I've been taking my camera to the treestand with me and having a blast snapping pix of the game. It's just a thought.... LOL!

I like the new avaitar, and I am going to the island with you. New limbs are on the matthews at only 45 lbs. I can pull it back but it still hurts alot, there will be very little practice.

WOW! I'm surprised you like that pic... I figured everyone would hate it! LOL!

I'm so sorry you're still having pain, that sucks! I hope it'll get better in time. Maybe you can kind of adjust your draw strategy to find a way to pull it back that doesn't hurt so much.

I should have everything together on tuesday for hunting, I will be leaveing on friday to hunt for a week rut will have just started and we will have a new moon so it should be a good week. I won't take a doe untill after mid week and only a large buck, 130 or better. I hope you get a boomer!!!!

Thank you! Good luck on your hunt also! I'm going to try and take an afternoon and a morning off this week to do a little hunting. My God-daughter wants to go one afternoon this week, so I'll probably take her. We're getting a little cool front here right now, so I should have taken off in the morning and hunted, but I didn't let my boss know. She wouldn't care if I didn't come in, but since I took off Friday, kind of unexpectedly, I really need to go in tomorrow.

Anyway, good luck on your trip and stay safe! Donna

The two of us meeting seems slim this trip, I am getting ready to contact him the only free time I will have will be friday evening.

I am takeing the Matthews in tomarrow and ordering lighter limbs, I will get out the season one way or another and it will NOT be with a crossgun.

Well, I hope you find something that works for you. I'm sure it must be very frustrating to not be able to hunt. I could hardly sleep last night...I was so excited that this morning was our muzzleloading season opener. I saw more doe and yearlings than I could count...only one spike, but lots of turkey too. It was great just to sit there and watch everything feed thru.
