justracey My hunting season is over

I can't remember a time when I wasn't a tomboy. My mom and sisters gave up trying to convert me years ago. They still laugh and shake their heads from time to time. My favorite room of my house is the deck. What can I say? I'm an outdoor girl.

I am fortunate enough to be married to the love of my life, David (mibowman on here). We have been together 29 years. Married 28 of those. We have two grown children, Michael and Sierra, a son-in-law Danny.

I'm an apprentice bowyer and hoping some day to be a top-notch traditional bowyer.

I have developed an inflammation in the posterior of my eyes. My focusing muscles on my right eye aren't working and my two eyes aren't working together. I have goofy glasses that help me see things a bit betterclose up, like the compuetr screen. But can't even read road signs for distance vision. I have weird multiple images or just plain jumbled images. I can't see the site pins on my bow or the damn deer. It may be weeks before the steroid eye drops completely work to clear all the inflammation. Even worse I can't see well enough to work as a bowyer and as we just bought into St.Joe River Bow Co. I need to be producing bows or we will lose our shirts.

thats from hangin around rick LOL good luck

Well ,I actually have not gone any where .Just moved last june to greenwood,IN and with the new jobs for the wife and I , things got really crazy stupid . So I took some time off from just about everything. Except work, and got things right again. And now we are back at it and doing very well, the boys are getting big ,and doing well in school. Coty whacked a doe last Sat . (with bow ) and we are planning on getting tyler his first bow kill this weekend. So enough about me , whats up with you guys ? and what have I missed ? Oh yeah I still talk toFred and April.

Where to start? Things are crazy, crazy here. We just bought in as partners of St. Joe River Bows. I have been apprenticing as a traditional bowyer so that I can take over as the cheif bowyer. Very exciting! Scary too. So our focus has shifted this last year too the traditional aspect of archery.

Say Hi! to the boys for me. Tracey

Of course all this planning is contingent on my having some time to DO anything. Dang short days and my having to work until 5PM sucks.

How"s your weekend going?? I had a nice whoopty-doo tree stand ride last night. Sat in a different stand. No better results than before. I couldn't quite get a clear shot at a 6 point(not the same one I saw before) that was passing thru. After he got out into the field a ways he met up with the 6 point I had been seeing and kicked his butt. Rut is getting ready to kick into gear here. Weather had the animals real spooky last night Turkey and deer both were acting like they were ready to jump out of there skins.

Hey lady!!! sorry to reply so late, the last couple of days have been hectic and full of ups and downs. The good ole rollercoaster of hunting the pre-rut, LOL!

You should have shot that 6. Ya know...there are 4.5yr old 6 points running around, you may have to change your land restrictions.

Sorry you weren't able to find your deer. I know from personal experience how heartbreaking that feels. Especially hard for you hunting where deer are harder to get. Keep at it, I know you'll have more success yet this year.

Thanks, it was a heart breaker especially since I took so much precaution and time with that stand. I stayed out of it as much as possible and found it last year. A whole summer of waiting for that chance and ARGGHH!! I'll hunt it a couple more times then wait for gun season to be there. I know the deer will flock to that spot once the pressure gets crazy.

Sorry to hear Marlin isn't doing well. Hopefully they will get her "fixed" soon.

Thanks, She got really heavy meds this time. Apparently after the surgery her bladder got infected, but the rest is ok for now.

That's cool. I'm glad you got some action going on. Soon you'll connect! Keep at it and don't stop doing it.

Yesterday I got slammed by people trespassing. Yesterday my neighbor and I went to his mom's land and her neighbor's decided to go four wheeling all around the place plus others were just partying around. This is kinda' suburban area so our hunt was pretty much screwed. We went back to our homes and I decided to sit back at my food plot, but it was too warm (72F) and neighboring small gaming shooting was going on too plus it started raining from an hour before dark and it didn't stopped till around 10 PM..
I was about to break "the law" today. This morning at 4:00am the temp plunged to an awesome 34F and right now it's a sunny calmed/no wind 50F for high. I'm sure the rut is kicking or should kick anytime from today and the rest of the week. I can't deny I was tempted to go out this morning although it would be good as just to sit and watch if any action was going on or not. At least as a scouting outing. We definitely need Sunday hunting in Pennsylvania!!!
I'll certainly be hunting from 9 am till 2:30pm everyday this week. Can't hunt before daylight nor before dark due to have to wait for the bus to pick up Giovanni for school at 8 AM and bring him back at 4PM. But if the rut kicks in high gear them bucks should be cruising within midday hours.

I had "neighborly" interference with my hunting last night too. Very frustrating. Moon phase was excellent and wind direction was good and weather was pleasant but the neighbors screwed it all up for me. Saw nothing at all.

Lucky them neighbors we don't live in Texas. I would've shot a few of them by now!

Was out this morning and got to see some rutting action at last! Just a five pointer searching around, but had to leave, my wife called me and she's not doing too well as she would've by now. She'll see the Dr at 2:00pm.
Hope your "kindly" neighbors break a leg or something so they stay out of your hunting area!
