I THINK OUR BUCKS DO SOMETIMES,BUT THEY STILL HAVE TO FIND A DOE AND I THINK THEY STILL ONLY COME IN HEAT BETWEEN JUNE AND SEPTEMBER.

Bucks are just like teenage boys they are always ready, and it gets them in trouble too. I've always been curious about hogs. We don't have any up this way. whats hog hunting all about?

I was just reading your comment from donaldhill. I read that deer rut all times of the year in Florida. is there any truth to that?

I KNOW WHAT YA MEAN.I THINK YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR,A FREIND TOLD ME HIS STEPDAD COULD DO A DEER SHOULDER MOUNT FOR 200 A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO SO I TOOK HIM THREE HEADS AND THEY WERE SO BAD I CUT THE HORNS OUT AND GOT THEM REDONE ON NEW CAPES.

That sucks you only get one shot with a cape. You definately get what you pay for. I just don't know who would take a 180" buck to a so so taxidermist?

IT IS CRAZY HOW THERE IS SUCH A DIFFERENCE IN SEASONS DOWN HERE.WE ARE SEEING ALOT OF BUCKS ALREADY HOOKED OUT OF VELVET.OUR BUCKS START TO RUT IN LATE JUNE.
THAT IS CRAY! I NOTICED SOME BUCK YESTERDAY THAT WERE JUST OUT PAST THEIR EARS STARTING ON THEIR G2'S AND OTHERS WERE JUST STARTING ON THEIR EYE GUARDS. YOU CAN PRETTY WELL COUNT ON OUR RUT HAPPENING AROUND THANKSGIVING. WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IS WHY YOU ARE SO EARLY AND SOUTH TEXAS IS DECEMBER JANUARY. I WOULD THINK YALL WOULD BE ABOUT THE SAME OR YOU WOULD BE A LITTLE EARLIER. HOW DID YOU DO ON YOUR TURKEY THIS YEAR?

1000 BUCKS IS NOT BAD FOR A LIFESIZE BEAR,DOWN HERE THEY GET 1600 TO 1800.AND IT KEEPS GOING UP EVERY YEAR.TWO YEARS AGO IT WAS ABOUT 375 FOR A DEER NOW IT IS 550.NOT TO MENTION TWO YEARS TO GET IT BACK.

The guy that does my stuff charges 465 for a shoulder mount. He does a phenomenal job and it takes about eight months. I went to an outdoor show this winter and the Northeastern Big Bucks club had a display of shoulder mounts. I was suprised that out of about fifty mounts there was only about two that looked real good. They were awesome racks but poor mounts. Its a shame that someone had to pay for that work.

I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN,I HAVE ABOUT 70 MOUNTS NOW,MOSTLY DEER AND HOGS.ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO I STARTED MOUNTING MY OWN STUFF TO SAVE MONEY,IT IS NOT TOO BAD.SURE BEATS PAYING 500 DOLLARS WHEN YOU CAN DO IT FOR 50.AND IT ONLY TAKES ABOUT THREE WEEKS TO FINISH ONE TOO.

I could fill my garage with seventy mounts... This year is the first year I have done any. 500 for the buck and 1000 for the bear (full body mount).I have always wanted to try hunting hogs. just havent found the time or money.

ARE YOU GUYS PRETTY SUCCESSFUL ON YOUR MT. LION HUNTS?

We regularly scout our hunting areas and know that there are lions in the areas that we hunt. The best possible chance to have a successful hunt is after a fresh snow when the tracks are fresh. Depending on how fresh the tracks are we can expect to tree a lion anywhere from 100 yrds to 3 miles away. So it is a very intense and FUN hunt!!

After a fresh snow we have about an 88% success rate on being successful. Without a fresh snow fall our success rate drops to a 75% chance at being succesful.
