My taste of music tends to lean to country and classic southern rock, due to my Alabama roots. The music on the Duck Commander videos is outstanding!!

Anything by John Grisham or Stephen King. I wonder what kind of drems a mind like Stephen King brings!

Hunting, fishing, camping, car racing(watching), and tinkering with my 83 Z28! All these things I love and the only thing better is having my family doing these things with me! I hunt just about everything that I can. Rifle, bow, or muzzleloader. Heck, I'd hunt with a slingshot if that was all I had! Elk hunting in the mountains of southern Colorado. I have taken more than my share of whitetails in the southern United States and am now filling my tags with mulies. I am fortunate enough to live in the foothills of the Wet Mountains and I see plentiful wildlife everyday!! I love to duck and goose hunt where my constant companion is my 17 yr old sonJames and my 1 yr old chocalate lab,Roxy. I get my other son, Danny, and my wife, Evie out whenever they can or will go. Just recently started chasing pheasants. What a rush! Nothing much beats early morning in the woods watching a big gobbler come to my decoys after a session of calling. Both I and my son seem to get our Merriam each year. Beautiful bird! Dove season is a tuning up season, but lots of fun with so many opportunities and I do like a bowl of homemade dove gumbo! I love to fish for the largemouth bass wher I spent many years in Texas chasing them, mainly with the Houston Bass Club(where I hold the record for big bass with a nice 11 pounder from Sam Rayburn). My main love with hunting is introducing youth to the sport. I have taken many of my kid's friends on their first hunt! Wow! The look on their face when they take their first game!

Television, what's that? Oh yeah, the convenience I use to watch Alabama football and hunting videos!

Other than Jesus(would you really die for another?), my heroes are my family. Every thing I care to do evolves around them!

dandhunter Welcome to dandhunter's profile

Not much to say about me other than I work for Vesuvius USA as a service tech at Rocky Mountain Steel Mill. I am married to my lovely wife, Evie, and have 6 kids.(And you ask about my hobbies). My family means the world to me! A country boy with a little bit of redneck!(ok, maybe a lot of redneck!)
I had a heart attack two years ago and had two stents put in. Six weeks later, thanks to the good Lord), I was at 12000 feet elk hunting. I did not take an elk, but the hunt was extemely sucessful just because I was there. I was leaning on my son, James, but I was there!

I wanted to answer your poll but it's a decsion that a parent must make for their individual child Have they been taught hunting ethics, safety training, how mature are they for their age, these are just a few remarks that must be answered before a child is let in the woods. I do not believe there is any given age that the goverment should dictate as a given. I have been hutning since I was 6 years old with my father and grandfather and have faired quite well.....so it's up to the individual parent to decide when their child has enough training and savy to head out. then again just my 2 cents

(Got to have a laugh its the weekend!!)

Two guys go hunting. Jerry has never gone hunting while Joe has hunted all his life. When they get to the northern Wisconsin woods, Joe tells Jerry to sit by a tree and not make a sound while Joe checks out a deer stand. After he gets about a quarter of a mile away, Joe hears a blood-curdling scream. He rushes back to Jerry and yells, "I thought I told you to be quiet!" Jerry says, "Hey, I tried. I really did. When those snakes crawled over me, I didn't make a sound. When that bear was breathing down my neck, I didn't make a peep. But when those two chipmunks crawled up my pants leg and said, 'Should we take them with us or eat them here?' I couldn't keep quiet any more!"

A guy goes hunting and gets lost in the woods. Remembering the universal distress signal of 3 shots, he fires 3 shots into the air and waits. After an hour he fires 3 more shots. Another hour goes by and still no one comes to help. Preparing for the next sequence he says to himself, “I hope somebody comes this time because these are my last three arrows.”

Top five signs you have hired the wrong hunting guide:

5. Your guide blows into big sea shell horn to attract game and a bunch of Vikings show up instead.
4. Your guide is completely outfitted with "Barney" camping equipment.
3. As you close in on a deer, your guide whispers in an Elmer Fudd voice, "Be vehhwey vehhwey quiet."
2. He calls trees by their first names.
And the number one sign you have hired the wrong hunting guide:
1. He is prone to scream, "Run, Bambi, RUN!"

Hope you are having a great week!

Thanks for the kind words and the invite. I dont think theres any place I love hunting more than Colorado and I have some great friends up there. There will be an antelope story coming soon about hunting with one of my buds from CO so sign up, read and post your comments. I'll be looking forward to reading them.

Hope you have a good season,

Yeah, seems they're into the MLB stuff these days. If we could get college football 11 months out of the year instead of Pro Baseball, I'd be happy.

But I took the first week of Bowseason off so i could try to get after a big buck we got game cam pics of. And hopefully be able to get some off shore fishing in n sunday.

Hi!! Good luck on the bowhunting. I hope the storm hasn't affected you too much. Thanks for the messages. Sorry I haven't got back lately, but I had knee surgery 10 days ago and just now getting back on this. Its screwing up my dove season but should be right for duck, deer, and elk season. I'm revved up now cause I heard an elk bugle behind my house about an hour ago!!!!! Oh, yeah, I'll be ready! Getting an archery tag for cow elk and a rifle tag for bull elk! Already have tags for a buck and another for a doe, Last year , took doe with bow and a buck with rifle. I'm trying to reverse it this year! Good Luck!!! Dan
