Every flower has a history and every flower symbolizes something. Often the history and symbols are confusing and contradictory but they are still fascinating. If your birthday is in the month of June, your flower is the rose. Here is the story and language of your flower.
The Linguistic Roots for the Name Rose
The Latin name for the rose, rosa, literally means red. Diana Wells suggests that saying that rose means red is like saying the heart is a muscle situated on the left side of the rib cage, it is an incomplete understanding of what the blossom symbolizes.
History of the Flower
Quite possibly the most popular flower in the history of the world, the rose has a multitude of legends and myths surrounding it. A flower of such prominence must be related to the gods of our world or at least one would think so when considering the wealth of otherworldly associations attached to the blossom. Was the smile of Amor the source of our first rose or did it fall from the hair of the goddess of dawn, Aurora?
The sweet scent and frowsy beauty of the blossom resulted in it being popular among the rulers of this world. The infamous Cleopatra had her pillows filled with rose petals. Romans used petals to decorate their feasts and even had canopies filled to shower petals upon the guests. Sometimes the Romans love of roses became too much and the shower of petals would actually smother guests.
The Symbolism of Roses
Jewish legends attributed the color of the rose to the first blood that darkened the earths soil. The Teutons believed the rose was a symbol of the underworld and called their battlefields rose gardens.
You really shouldn't put it like that! Doesn't sound very nice. But it is to the point! I'll be thinking bout ya though. Wish I could be there to lend ya a shoulder to cry on!
actually, i had a pretty terrible weekend. we're fixin to lose my grandmother...she's on life support and we're gonna let her go on wednesday. so i'm actually not feelin too well right now.
Oh hun I hate to hear that! Wish I could say something to make ya feel somewhat better but I know there isn't. Just think of all the good times and the many times she made ya smile.
i'd like to but my mammaw is real sick and is in the hospital on life support down in knoxville, so it looks like i'll be spendin my weekend down there. i'm not sure when i'm going to have time to get in another hunt other than maybe an afternoon or 2 next week when i get out of school
Dont blame ya there one bit! Family is always more important. I just realized something though. All this time we talked I still dont know your name. I'm Mike! By the way. LoL
oh ok...yeah i used to date a guy who worked that shift at the job he had. he always got home at like 1 or 2 in the morning. sometimes even 3. and then other times he would get off at like 7 haha...very unpredictable! you got big plans for the weekend?
That would suck! I pull into the driveway by atleast 11:30. But right now things are slow so when they kick production back up I may get some overtime. No real big plans this weekend! Just gonna spend some quailty time with the kids. How bout you? Gonna try to get ya a turkey before the season come to a close?
oh geez second shift and you're not in bed still? man i would be. so what time do you have to go in?
I have to be there by 2:30! Hopefully I'll go in work 4 hours and they'll send me home tonight. Its not that bad once ya get use to going without much sleep.
