bullelk Welcome to bullelk's profile

I live in southeast Idaho and own a cabin near the Montana/Wyoming border, in the heart of some serious big game country and blue ribbon trout fishing. I spend most of September chasing elk with a bow, and enjoy steelhead fishing, bear hunting, and turkey hunting in the spring.

Don't think you are gonna get your wish about the Pats, although I would also like to see Tommy get whacked around a few times!!! Glad to see the Cowboys go down too.

well went back to that spot hunted sunrise to sun set.. saw 6 bucks 2 that were shooters. but not the one i missed. had both the shooters in range just couldn't close the deal. got a black cloud looming over my head this bow season.

Stick with it. I am still hunting and I started on August 30th. Every time I go out I keep thinking, this might be the day![/quote took my 4 yr old son out sat am, sat in a pop up ground blind, we had a spike come in with in ten yards, he got really excited, and was begging me to shoot it, i think he is hooked at 4 yrs old. i m gonna get out one more time by myself on tues with the bow. our rifle season starts sat. anyone of those bucks come in on sat or after they will go down. hoping to stick one before the rifle opener but we will see.

I truly believe you can get kids into the sport at that age. Glad you took him out. Good luck, and remember, nothing wrong with shooting that pig with a rifle when the time comes!!!
certainly hopes he shows his face when i have the remington in my hands, no distance is to far..lol

Nice gallery!! Are the steelhead like trout? And that Moose you got is nice..Thank you for the friend request..Live in a great part of the country for hunting and fishing..

Thank you. Steelhead are rainbow trout that are born in fresh water, then swim to the ocean to live for 2 or 3 years before returning to the stream of their birth to spawn. These fish have traveled nearly 800 miles to the area I fish for them. They are remarkable.
Ok--I thought they looked like a rainbow trout,,just wasn't sure.

i gotta work tommorrow but i will be there sunrise to sunset friday... mid to high 160's. which is a giant for this area

That is a giant in my book. Good luck!

iwent back had that buck at 15 yards and hit a small baugh deflected the arrow and of course it missed the target. i have never seen a buck like this and prob never will again. he was even bigger then i originally thought absolute monster. made me sick to see that buck walk away.

Oh, man, that sucks. I know the feeling. If I were you I would not give completely up on him. You never know when he will drop his guard in pursuit of a doe. Obviously it won't be easy, but still possible. Good luck. Keep me posted.

i am going to give that spot a try again in the morning/all day if i have to. gonna bring in a doe decoy and estrous deer piss and we will see what happens.

Good luck, my man. Send me a report.

My taxidermist told me to measure the neck at the base and near the jaw with the hide off. Then measure from the tip of the nose, to the corner of the eye. He also recommended measuring from the tip of the nose to the tip of the brow tines. The last measurement lets him make sure the antlers are set at the proper angle on the head.

Thank you! I am training and I have seen it done all three ways...just wandering which is best. That seems to be the answer most are giving. Again, thank you!!
