ABOUT ME
I live in God's country up here at Turtle Lake in northwest Saskatchewan, about 80 miles north of where the Hanson Buck was taken! I own and operate Turtle Lake Lodge, with my wife Les. We've got a beautiful daughter with a swell husband, and a pistol of a 5 YO grandaughter.
I love everything hunting, and digital media. I am currently working on a new website at www.wildcam.ca where I am running high quality Mpeg4 streaming netcams on deer baits around the area. I have three feeds running now and the action is HEATING UP !! Stop by and take a look!
Free trial on now! Sign up and I'll toggle you on for cupl weeks! Come on up for a virtual visit to Canada anytime you want!! Keep your eye on the refresh feed in the evening and during the night. Lotsa deer on it!
Boonerc
This is an image feed that refreshes every 30 seconds. Our mpeg4 cameras stream seamlessly.

Yeah, poor Toby, this was his first time working in a hunting camp and I have him come with me the one day this happens and he has no gun!!
A archery moose hunt would be awesome, just go toward the tail end of sept. they are easier to call in then!!quote="boonerc"]

I was guiding spring bear hunters on the Alsek river in Alaska. I had a older client and we were making a play on a 7 footer using snowshoes. The client pushed the shot and got guts. I tried to cut the bear off but I couldn't keep up in the deep snow. The outfitter saw the bear from the river and started trying to knock him down, but the distance was to far. I took the client back across the river and the outfitter had the bear in his spotting scope. I watched the big bruin walk around the base of this dome shaped hill and disappear. I told the client we were going after him, and he said he had had enough, he was exhausted. So my packer Toby and I went after the big guy to put him out of his suffering. After about a 45 minute climb to the dome I jacked a shell in the chamber and started sneaking around the dome, tensuins were high and the adrenaline was kicking in the turbo's!! A small melt off stream was flowing to my right and making quite abit of noise, but all my focus was to the left where I had last seen the Black Monster. Then from the right I heard a load "WOOF" and caught movement out of the corner of my right eye! The Big Guy had made his way into the stream while I was coming up the Mt. and was laying in the cool water to help the pain from the gut shot. I spun on my heels and leveled the .338 to waist height, lost my footing and my legs came out from underneath me. But before I hit the ground I squeezed off the one and only shot I would get! At 6 feet I hit the Big Bruin just under the chin and broke his neck, dropping him a whole 2 feet from my boots!! From that I learned to never assume anything, always hunt the entire area, especially when you have lost eye contact with the animal you are after!!

I've gots lots of pics, but never flung carbon at one yet cuz not big enuff. Did have a nasty encounter a few years back just after fall season. Was trudging thru heavy bush huntn moose with a 30.30 and came across a big one that was right PO'd. I was near a spot that had been baited until the week before. He was probably hungry and I think I saw part of an arrow stuck in his ass. He mistook me for the poor shooter. Charged me several times, and then followed me & a buddy from a safe distance (100 yards) for about a mile as we walked. Lost him when we crossed a creek on a beaver dam. He huffed and yelled at us the whole time. It was heavy bush and I never really had a clear shot after the first time I ran into him, or I woulda downed him, in season or not. Near scraed the pants right off me! LOL
Whew! Hope your packer had packed some new underwear for ya! I'm goona do an Alakan moose some day with my Hoyt. bc[/quote]
