Arrow Rests
Posted On 10/26/2009 20:19:35 by customford
After this season I'm going to start looking for a new arrow rest and need some input or suggestions. Right now I'm using a QAD dropaway which I'm not too keen of. I've been thinkin about goin with the masses and gettin a Whisker Biscuit. Anyone out there that uses one, please give me some feedback on them, such as how quiet it is, wear and tear on the vanes, consistency, how often the bristles need to be replaced, and any other advantages or disadvantages that they have.

I'm also looking for feedback on any other rests out there that are decent. I've also been looking at the G5 rests but those look a little pricey but price really isn't too much of an issue but the less I spend, the better. If i go with another drop away, I want to go with a cordless one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the pro shop i use has set my dropaway on mine twice and i have had to readjust it both times it worked sometimes but would not drop at others he just wasnt gettting it tight enough i tightened up the cord and never had another problem with it. i know guys that use the whisker buiscuts and swear by them but i know a lot of tounement shooters and they all use dropaways has to be a reason for that. but its like anything else in archery you want to shoot what you are comfortable with and have confidence in. good luck

That's too bad.  Ripcord is a phenomenal rest!  Vital gear rest is great.  Trophy Ridge Drop Zone.  Biscuits friction burns the brushes over time and the hole in the center get's elongated as the bristles slowly melt/burn away.  If you shoot one make sure you are using 2" Blazers.  Quick Spins don't shoot worth a flip through a biscuit and it'll quicly wear out your 4" vanes.  You'll likely loose a couple feet per second but no bigee if you're not a speed freak.  If it makes too much noise you can put a coat of turtle wax on your arrow shafts to help quiet it down.  I shot one for a while but am much, much happier since going to fall aways and for me Ripcord is where it's at, hands down.  Good luck.  BTW, check out some of the inertia driven fall aways if you'd like, they don't have strings.
