When it comes to embracing his Southern roots, while following in his father's footsteps, Bert Ott Carruth's message to others about his love of God, Family and Country rings true with sentimental songs of Southern cooking, hunting with coon dogs, bird dogs and our true Southern heritage.


Bert Ott Carruth is a multi-talented celebrity in his own right as an avid Mississippi and Alabama Sportsman. His talents include: sports, singing, the outdoors and radio show hosting with his father Mississippi Conservationist and singer: “Paul Ott Carruth.” Bert is a loving,Christian family man with an awesome and loving wife named Gina, and three children, ages 6-15. The Carruth's make their home in Birmingham, Alabama. Bert spends at least three days a week in Mississippi working on different projects. Famous for his football history, as a player for the Ole Miss Rebels, he graduated in 1994 and went on to coach for MRA in Madison. In 1998 he and his family moved to Alabama.

In speaking with Bert, about what inspired him to re-recorded some of his father's songs, he said to me: “I have always admired my Dad and the way he narrated his music with the message of God, Family and Country.”

When asked about how he felt while recording his father's old songs he replied: “I jumped at the chance to re-record those awesome songs in hopes that it would give the younger generation a chance to listen and fall in love with this collection of songs. People in their 40's + have listened and admired the songs. Today, these types of songs are not played on most radio stations. The younger generation is missing out on their own Southern upbringing.”

In short, “I Am The South,” recorded by: Bert Ott Carruth, is a wonderful, moving collection of songs that will leave chills up your back, make you cry or leave with you with a sense of pride of our Southern heritage. The album has eight songs.
