My wife and I were in the cornfield yesterday evening, hoping for a shot at some geese. We got run out of there in the morning by the lightning storm that accompanied the heavy rains we got here. Well, that afternoon, we were in high hopes that all would go well. We had one nice bunch of Canadas fly past, but way too far to shoot. It looked to be 25 or 30 geese in the flock. We also saw three bald eagles! I had no idea there were any around the field where we were hunting.
We heard some more geese off in the distance, when we heard something rustling in the corn right behind us. I figured it was a deer, since we'd seen a whole herd of deer in the corn. My wife slowly stood up and watched silently. She said there was something black in the corn, and maybe we'd better move on. We watched awhile longer, and it was now within 15 feet of us. Suddenly a bear popped his head up! We froze momentarily, until he bolted the other direction! Needless to say, we went the opposite direction, LOL. He wasn't a big bear, only about 200 pounds. However, there's a bigger one in there that goes close to 400 pounds. Hey, do y'all have bears where y'all live? When that old boy shows up, it's time to let him have the run of the place!!!
