Today I was reminded that there is no such thing as a "sure thing" when it comes to turkey hunting. I've been watching a group of birds, including two longbeards, a jake, and a few hens, that have been feeding in a pasture both morning and evening on a farm that I hunt. I headed out there this morning with my blind and my bow thinking that this was going to be a slam dunk. The weather was a bit cool and breezy, but I didn't think it was enough to hamper the birds. I sat there for 3 and 1/2 hours and never heard the first gobble or saw the first bird...go figure!
The weather is supposed to be warm up tomorrow and be awsome for the next week or so. Still plenty of season left to fill some tags and get some great video footage in teh process. The season is starting a little slow, but stay tuned. The feathers will start to fly soon - I promise!
