I had the deer decoy in a bag underneath my ladder stand. When I went to the stand on opening day of the Virginia archery season, I looked but could not find my decoy. Since it was still dark I decided to climb into the stand and look for the decoy after hunting. While sitting in the stand I noticed the bag I had the decoy in was laying in the woods about 40 yards away. After hunting I climbed down and went to where the bag was. There I noticed the body of the decoy completely destroyed by a bear. I could see teeth and claw marks all over the body. I also found the head of the decoy nearby. It was chewed down to about the size of a softball. I never did find the antlers. My wife was not pleased with the bears choice of meal. Maybe I can talk her into letting me get another decoy.
