Opening Day March 15, 2008
|
Opening morning @ Sunny Grove in Okeechobee was one of the best hunts we've had to date. It was a group of 5 hunters that weekend. 4 were hunting that morning and the 5th came in Saturday night to hunt Sunday morning. Once I dropped off the other 3 hunters and their guides I was off to my blind with my hunter. 15 min before day break we could hear the turkeys gobbling. There were so many I lost count. This went on for the entire hunt! Once we saw the gobbler we were after the hunt was on. He came in 20 yards and the shot was taken. 3 min after we heard a shot in the distance. 2 turkeys down opening morning not even 20 min after day break. Another 10 past and the 3 gobbler was taken. Later that morning around 10:30 am the 4th turkey was down. The next day we had the 5th hunter a turkey by 11:30 am. The great thing about this weekend was every hunt was captured on video. Each guide was equip with a camera to document each hunt. This opening weekend will go down in the books!
