Illinois Fall Archery Deer and Turkey Season opens on Wed 1 Oct 200804 Oct 08: First hunt was an all day hunt in Greene County IL. Conditions were Sunny and in the 70s. Winds out of the ESE. Morning hunt on hardwood ridge with acorns and hickory nuts dropping. No deer or turkey seen. Afternoon hunt on a small pond hoping for a thirsty deer. I took the family for a day trip to Hickory Run State Park, Pennsylvania on Saturday. Decided to get away with the family since my wife's mother just passed on. Thought the tree's would be getting their fall colors. Some were changing but not like other years. One of my favorite places to see is Hawk Falls. Water fed to this falls is cold year round! Even during the summer months the water is so cold that your legs cramp up! The water is rarely dirty, making this place a great place... Read More
When I got my buck, I never did find my arrow so I went back & looked during daylight this past weekend & found where it apparently fell out of the exit hole about 40 yards into the 60 total that the buck traveled. Wow - what a great start to the season!!! Here in Michigan, the first couple of weeks of bowhunting season are usually miserable; wake up to comfortable hunting climates and then sweat to death if you go out.
