April20,2008 sitting in hotel, just finished scouting here in Missouri. Mike and I are hunting with TreeTop outfitters and joining me is my grandfather. This morning we saw some strutters 50 yard s away, so hopefully they come back tommorow. We filmed a bobcat, and some cockbirds. The weather is nice but rain in the forecast. Hopefully all will work out. Check back tommorow for an update. Gone fishn now...Later corey 4-20-08 9:06pm What a great day. Popop caught some good bass today, and Corey was busy getting his bait out of the trees. This afternoon, Corey met some new friends from the area, and hooked them up with spme Medalist hats. Drew the one young man shot a huge gobbler last week. Tanner and Tucker Bobbies boys eacj shot nice birds as well. the youth is getting it done in Missouri. Hopefully that luck will follow Popop in the morning. Tonight Mike and Corey saw a good bird and watched him fly up to roost 100 yards from the blind. They got great footage as he strutted his stuff 45 yards from the camera. 2 hens may make it tuff, but Corey is ready to call, and get popop a Missouri Longbeard. Thanks to Tacy, and Mary for bringing the kids down, to meet Corey and hang out. They all wished Popop good luck, so tune in tommorow for another update. The pictures of today are in the gallery marked 4-20-08 Have a great day.. 4-21-08....The first day of Missouri Turkey, was tuffer then we thought. I guess thats huntn...We watched a longberd fly down but head to some hens on the other side. Some deer kept Popop's interest, for most of the day. Around 11,:00 a hen flew past, for no known reason. popop kept the boys video/cameras running, with jokes, and orange peels. Well, you will have to see th footage to believe it. The gobblers, were very quiet. We only herd 4 total gobbles, and they were late in the morning. The weather was perfect, and the woods was alive, but the turkeys must of took the day off. Check back later, for a roost update...1:21pm 4-22-08 What a great day. The morning started off with 6-8 long beards firing off. A hen gave popop and corey a fit, but with some very aggresive calling, the hen flew down and was looking for a fight. The hen ran in to the hazel creek decoy, and broke her beak off. She had a mouth full of notes, and was video taped, and is a must see. As the hen was squaking to Corey many gobblers were heading there way. At 7 am the first long beard showed up, and strutted 200 yard to the decoy. Popop almost had the big one, because Corey held him from shooting for 5 minutes as the strutter walked around the decoy at 21 yards. When he shot he missed and the gobler ran to 30 yards where he then got hammered. This was a par to for the course Popop said. The morning was very emotional, and was something that we cant wait to air. As we tagged the turkey, Bobby Bowen of Tree Top Outfitters bagged a giant, with Mike doing the fiming. How could the morning get any better??????IT DID...at 11 corey and mike headed out with the bow, to Innerloc one. with 2 minutes to spare corey left an arrow fly, and connected with a goo tom. The bird never took a step, and with a 40 yard shot, the rest is history. No blind, was used and the birds started at 10 yards but were spooked, when corey tried to draw. The 3 long beards rasn off, and with some aggresive yelps they came back. It seemed like forever, but the big tom strutted to 40 yards, 20 steps behind he decoy. Corey looked at his watch and told Mike to hang her we go. He drew, and smashed the bird. The footage is a 10 plus, and will be up oncamospace as soon as we get back. 3 birds in 1 day, and for Corey a special day, to hammer a bird with Poppop. tommorow corey is taken 3 kids out on there pappys land...check back for more...8:44pm 4-23-08 This morning mike and popop slept in, and Corey took out 3 towns kids. Kent Parson shot a nice turkey, with the aid of corey. It was great...Kent was so pumped and so was his 3 buddies. The trip was great, now the guys are packing there stuff for the ride home. 4 turkeys in 3 days...Thanks Bobby Bowen of Tree Top Outfitters, and the Eagleville gang. We look forward to comming back in October for deer.....10:00 am
