The Ground Breaks for the pennsylvania Wilds Elk Country Visitor Center Dennis Brauchle, his brother Joe and I had the opportunity to attend the Ground Breaking Ceremony for the pennsylvania Wilds Elk Country Visitors Center. For all our pennsylvania friends, here is something that really is once in a life time event. Recently the Game Commission was able to purchase nearly ten square miles of land in Elk County. All of it was formerly posted and not available for hunting to the public. Not any more!! Still there is a problem. Earlier this week, the pennsylvania Senates' Game and Fish Committee held the first of several hearings on increasing hunting license fees. The pennsylvania Game Commission has not had a license increase in nearly ten years. The last in 1999. Currently the base license that includes: Small game Upland Game Fall and Spring Turkey stamps One antlered deer tag Costs $19 with a $1 processing fee for a resident adult license.
