I prefer rock, but as I'm maturing I find myself listening to country more often.

My short attention span causes me to enjoy magazines more. Most of my favorite books are of turkey hunting or upland bird hunting. My all time favorite is "A Sand County Almanac" by Aldo Leopold. I often wonder what he would be thinking today.

I like hunting upland game, particularily grouse and woodcock behind my setters or brit. I also enjoy hunting squirrel and rabbit. My favorite could possibly be turkey hunting. Half way to the Grand Slam with an Eastern and a Merriam's. I enjoy shooting my bow a lot more than I do hunting with it. Quickly learning to love traditional archery.
I also like Jeeps. I was okay 'til I bought my first one.

Unless it's the Outdoor channel, TLC, TDC, or something along that line, I'm really not interested.

My biggest hero would be my daughter, Arianna. Anyone that has ever helped me take her hunting, like Tom, Andy, Gary, Anthony, Jason, Don, Andy, would have to rank up there pretty high. My other heroes would be my family.
I forgot about Tina Pattison, she's the one that started "Hunt of a Lifetime"

bevans Saturday is the first day of the upland bird season, unless you count dove. Pheasant with the youth this Saturday, and then Grouse and Woodcock begin next Saturday. The dogs and I are in heaven. Keep checking out the Sportsman Channel Tuesday @ 6:30. Aria

I am happily married to Laura and we have 4 children. Arianna is my oldest daughter at 15. She was born with Spina Bifida, but that hasn't kept us from enjoying our time hunting, canoeing, camping, or fishing. Tanner is my oldest son at 12. He got his first gobber this year, and he is my little man who is my all around helper. Lia is 7 about to turn 30. Lia loves to shoot her bow I think more than any of us. Parker is 5, soon 6, and just loves being cute.
I truly love the outdoors; sharing the outdoors with those who haven't had the opputunity to learn; and teaching every chance that I get about the outdoors and different ways to enjoy the outdoors.
I would like to someday create my own program teaching youth the various aspects of the outdoors, and to help handicapped children get out to enjoy the outdoors and all that nature has to offer.

So where in Franklin are you from? I'm in Newmansville, before Tionesta. My favorite to hunt is small game, especially grouse and woodcock. If you'd like to get together sometime let me know.

Actually located in Rocky Grove (kind of suburb of Franklin. I'm familar with Newmansville although it's been years since I was up there.
My Dad and Grandad both had hunting camps just above the old game refuge (is it still there?). Couldn't tell you any road names but sure I could take you there - maybe. I imagine the area is pretty well developed now. Thanks for the invite on getting together sometime. I'll keep it in mind and just might take you up on it. Take care.

Hey Fourweight,

Read your stories, and enjoyed all of them. I would like the oppurtunity to write for someone, but am unsure how to go about it. That's why I was so excited about Pennsylvania Sportsmen Portal.

I have a couple of books that I would like to complete and publish, but I'm absolutely clueless how to go about that.

Do you do any dove hunting? I hunt the potato farm in Newmansville usually. The gun powder smell and my brit finding lost birds gets my heart pumping for grouse and woodcock.

I can't keep my martini's dry, as I've never had one, but as for everything else I do my best.

Glad you liked my stuff, there is lots more if you'd like to read them. Will have to check out the PA portal. The paper I write for is always looking for articles if you'd like to send something in I can give you the address. I have a friend that is writing a book, I can quiz him about getting something published.

You are joking-Do I hunt doves, I plant part of my fields just for the doves-sunflowers, oats and buckwheat-works every time! It's a great way to sharpen the eye, work the dogs and then you breast the birds, wrap in bacon with a peice of hot pepper and onion and grill-oh my gosh!

Never had a martini-hummmmmm!

Thanks for the comment on my blog, Jack. I think you may have been the only one to read it.

That's why most writers are starving. I write a bi-weekly article for a weekly newspaper in Oil City called the Galena Signal. If you would like to read some of my stuff send me your regular email and I can forward then to you.

Hey Ben, I occasionally catch you on Next Generation. Awesome show and it seems as if you understand the whole realm of hunting.

Maybe we can get together sometime and tag a gobbler. We need a Rio and an Osceola to complete our slam.

Hey thanks for the compliment! I love doing the show and feel that it has actually helped me understand the value of the outdoors more. But yea lets do it and get after those long beards. All I need now is an Osceola....I messed around last time I was in FL and missed mine lol.
