Bow Hunting what else is there!!
Thanks for the introduction to such a addictive sport/hobby!! After getting my first bow I have been hunting Bow ONLY for 2008! ... Archery is awesome!!
Got my first bow on 8-23-2008...

Then came the 2008 Martin Leopard... He is so amazing, with help from great friends I managed to dress him out!

Before I ever stepped into the woods I practiced every senerio I could think of for weeks before archery season. I did standing shots, sitting shots, shots from a climber and then did them all again in full hunting attire. Was VERY toasty but it gave me the confidence I needed to be sure of myself when I made that first shot at a live animal.

(...YES my quiver is upside down, the arrows fell out when I turned it the correct way....)

UPDATE…. I met and have fallen head over heals in love with the most amazing and giving man on this earth. And he is a BOWHUNTER!!! J We love the same things and enjoy every second we get to spend together. Doesn’t matter if we are checking cameras at midnight or laying back in our favorite recliner watching hummingbirds on the porch. David is everything I have ever wanted in a man and I am so lucky that he came into our lives. David and I are looking forward to traveling and hunting the GA bow season together this year. Hopefully we will get some stuff on film to share!

I guess good place to start would be home…is there anything more important?
I am 35, brunette, short (4’11”…quit laughing) and yes they are “REAL” …I have bLuE eyes.

I have lived in Georgia my entire life and have never traveled very far outside of the southeastern US. I took my first plane trip to Ohio March of 2006, yes I am serious… I have only flown on a plane twice (roundtrip counts as twice I right????) UPDATE…I am a flying fool now J

I was born and raised in what some would call “rural” country about 20 minutes outside of Atlanta. Grew up the only granddaughter of 7 grandchildren and was spoiled by grandparents that lived next door my entire life. My family has always lived modestly and most of my meals as a child involved some sort of wild game from the four legged variety to wings and gills. The house I was raised in even sported a “tin roof” way before they were “IN” and came in a variety of fancy colors to match shutters (well unless you count rust as a color). I honestly could not see the good in being raised so modestly with the fear of God and Daddy until I grew up. I now know that I can survive most anything because I can honestly put “need” before “want“. I don’t consider a cell phone a necessity or “need” but a gun and bow are a must have. I will always be able to provide food and shelter with the skills I have learned from my family and hunting friends.

I am divorced and raising my beautiful and amazing fifteen (UPDATE) SIXTEEN year old daughter on the thirty six acres that my family moved to and built homes on in 2005.

I am blessed to have my Mom living within six hundred feet and my brother only another eight hundred or so past that. We decided to grab a piece of heaven and get farther away so we moved about a hour and a half southeast of Atlanta. After 4 years of work we now have 3 homes, a dove field, pastures, barns, miles of fence and a great place to sit on the porch and enjoy nature.

Our place is small and we are surrounded by non-managed hunting land, which makes it tough, but we have still seen some really nice bucks in 2007 and 2008. We plant millet and sunflower for the dove and feed a high protein pellet and corn in feeders with planted oats for the deer. I have spent hundreds of hours watching and filming deer, rabbit and birds in my backyard and love every second of it (well except that time I forgot my ThermaCell and came back home with hundreds of mosquito bites). In four hunting seasons there have only been 3 deer harvested off our property. My daughter took a HUGE corn horn spike in 2005 and I took a doe which was my very first bow kill ever in 2008.

I can’t wait to see the bucks come back this spring, I have a few that I really hope managed to make it. Between gardening and canning this summer you will find me watching the antler growth at thirty feet from a blind with camera ready.

I hope to get some great moments and photos to share with everyone here. Daily updates from the blind were a fun part of last summer and fall for me and I can‘t wait.

I am a newbie archer and hunted bow only in 2008, my only harvest with gun was a 7 point buck in 2007 with a S&W .44 caliber scoped pistol.

I am looking forward to opportunities to bow hunt in some really great places with awesome people this year. The most recent was a 4 day bow hunt in Kentucky, I came home full of great memories and a new found appreciation for a Heater Body Suit. I did mention that I am a southern girl right?!?! I never imagined I would bow hunt in those temps, cold doesn’t even begin to describe it! A old saying about a well digger and his backside comes to mind!
Photobucket

I did see a lot of deer but no bruisers or anything within bow range, well except a spike that was feet from me while ground hunting one afternoon. Everything considered I still had a great time and can’t wait to go again.

Right now I am getting geared up for Spring turkey here in Georgia, so if you see/hear a brunette making really crazy noises at red lights… just wave because that would be me! I have 3 plus hours of commuting each day so I practice in the car. I am planning to chase em’ with my bow this year which presents enough of a challenge without bad calling to, so it’s practice…practice…practice! Oh did I mention I also have a brand new Pretty Boy with Hen decoy to tempt those toms with this year??? Anything else you may want to know, please ask… I may have a hunting question or two myself to throw back at ya! I can’t believe I almost forgot to mention my lil’ friends… for those of you that don’t know, I hand feed hummingbirds from my porch 9 months out of the year. Hence the new nickname…“hummie whisperer ”

My very first Archery Harvest was a doe in 2008, this is the first time I have ever successfully videoed my own hunt.
