I spend the majority of my time hunting in the Sandhills of South Carolina. I've had a life-long interest in the outdoors and I'm currently attending Clemson's School of Wildlife and Fisheries Biology.

Hey. Do you ever hunt on the Sandhills refuge? I've been on the draw hunt for turkeys 3 times. I killed 2 last year and 1 this year. Still learining the area. There's a pic of the one I killed this year on my profile. It's the one on 4-3. He was 18lbs. with a 10 7/8" beard, but his spurs were busted up.

No Sir, I sure haven't. I spend a good bit of time on the refuge but haven't hunted it. I do hunt Sandhills State Forest for deer and turkey however. I also hunt private land right there in Bethune. It's defintily a great area with a ton of turkey. The deer density is pretty low compared to most other areas of the state, but there are some good bucks taken up there every year. All the deer and turkey seen in my gallery are from Bethune/McBee area.

We haven't found a lot of turkey sign on the refuge in the areas we've hunted, but again, we're just learning the land. We did rabbit hunt on some GMA land off Hwy 1 this year, but it had been hunted hard already. Do yall rabbit hunt?

No, I don't have any beagles either, but I have a couple of friends who have some pretty good dogs that I go with.We are going to try a few more places around Mcbee on the Sandhills Refuge this year. Like I said before, we have only hunted the regular GMA with only fair success. We talked with the people at the Sandhills refuge, and they have a short season there, so we will try it this year. We like the area.

O ya, are you in a club up there around Rock Hill? I used to hunt with Piedmont Hunt Club over in Great Falls. Nice pictures of Bulls Island. I suggest you read some old Archibald Rutledge books for some accounts of its hunting back in the early 1900's.
No, I'm not in a club. I have a few private tracts of land around Rock hill and Ft. Mill. I have heard of Piedmont Hunt Club though.

We are getting in as much 3D bow "hunting" as possible. We went to Summerton Sat. and shot in a 25 target contest. Nice place but took about 1hr45min to get there. Come out with us to Little Mtn. bow hunters for their next shoots. They are May 31 and June 1st (sat/sun) and another one end of June. U can shoot either day and must register by 2pm.

Turkey season is among us in Maryland. Remember to stay quiet, don't move and cover up.

Spring tip: Make the lead hen fight you in your calls and she will come after you. The gobbler will chase the lead hen and that is how you get them henned up gobblers to come out and play :)

Have fun and send post up some good pics.
