My Bible is #1.
Any and all books on dog training, especially by Mike Lardy, Evan Graham, and Ben O. Williams!!!! And, of course,
The Retriever Journal

I live to bird hunt. Upland mostly, but just in the last few years, have become addicted to waterfowling. I have been deer hunting for over 40 years, mostly with my grandmother's philosophy of "fill the freezer" first, so if I don't have venison once or twice a week, I get cranky!

I enjoy training dogs. My chocolate lab, "Skeeter", is a bird's worst nighmare. He will not stop, until he finds that downed bird!
He turned six in July, so in a year or two, it will be time to add a new recruit to puppy camp.

I love to play golf, and am fairly proficient, and, like anything else, the more I play, the more consistant I become.

Just picked up a new Remy 11-87 Waterfowl, and can't wait to take it South and break it in "Killin' Green"!E

I don't watch much TV. But, when I do, it's "24", NCIS, Law and Order (any of them), I really enjoy RNT-V, Waterdog, The Super Retriever Series on Versus-TV, and any of the Bird Hunting shows, especially with Tom Knapp.

All of the TV news media, save a few on Fox news, are in the tank.....sad, but true! Walter Cronkite, we miss you!

Fred Bear, Ted Nugent, my late mom & dad(God bless 'em!), my Uncle Joe, who intoduced me to fishing and hunting, Les Paul, Ben Hogan, and my big brother, George, who's not a hunter/fisherman, but is a very good man!

All of the men and women in our miltary, and those who have served, in the past. THANK YOU!

Also, Larry Sonntag, of Salty Dog Farms, Mike Lardy, Justin Tackett, Evan Graham, J.Paul Jackson, and Chris Akin, Retriever trainers of superb talent, and everybody at Sportdog Brand dog electronics, whose service is second to none!

Tom Dokken, for creating the Dokken Deadfowl trainer, and Avery Sporting Dog, for all their excellent dog gear!

SKEETER1950 13WKS AFTER KNEE SURGERY, ABOUT 95% BACK..BACK TO WORK/LIGHT DUTY :o)

Hey!

My name is Paul, how YOU doin'?

A former professional musician, I have been fishing and hunting, since I was 8 years old, thanks to the guidance of my Uncle Joe.

I am single and lovin' life, and have a dog that loves to hunt as much as breathe!

I drive truck locally now, so my weekends are my own, and my work schedule gives me my mornings, to train the pup, and keep him sharp and focused for hunting seasons.

My daughter, got married last spring, to a great young man, who loves to hunt, so I have another hunting partner! They have a puppy....cutest little booger you'll ever lay eyes on! (Check out "Ernie" in the gallery!)It was also a tremendous honor, that Heather & Tom asked me to sing during their ceremony. I chose to do Keith Whitley's "When You Say Nothing At All"

I still play guitar, usually just at open mic nights, or jamming with friends, but my passion has really switched from music, to hunting and dog training.

I hunt mainly in Wisconsin. Northern Wisconsin for whitetail and grouse, all over Southern Wisconsin for pheasant, chukar, huns, and waterfowl. I just had double knee replacement surgery in early December. Now, rehab is going well, and I'm looking forward to being much more mobile, and able to be more active!! Woo Hoo!

I really want to make the trip South to hunt flooded timber befoe I get too old to it effectively =) On that note....If anyone can recommend any great guides to hunt Southeast MO., or the flooded timber of Arkansas, Mississppi, or Louisianna....please feel free to shoot me the info. It would be much appreciated!

Hey bud how was your weekend? Any birds? Did you get out to Vernon? Just stopping to say hi and give you an update. I had the pup out saturday and sunday. saturday I got her started on the e-collar with no problems, I have it just in case I don't have to use it much. On sunday I used the starter pistol for the first time and it didn't phase her. Overall she pointed about twenty times and every time it was a bird(that I planted of course), sunday she worked her best yet. I cant wait to work her again. Talk to you soon

Kev-

Going back up to Wild Wings, for a family hunt, that we started a "tradition" of doing a few years back. Going to plant 15 pheasant and 5 chukars, and if there's any residual birds from Friday's hunts out there, Skeeter will find them, no doubt. If you're interested, check out:

www.wildwingssportsmansclub.com The website can fill you in. It's one of the more reasonable hunt clubs around, and knowing you're going to see all those birds, really helps get your dog "birdy", and as a training tool, invaluable!
