Missouri_KidsHuntingforaC Be sure to sign up early for the 2009 Missouri KHFAC big buck killin' weekend! Go to www.missourikidshuntingforacure.com or send us your name and phone number through camospace!

Kids Hunting For a Cure is a non-profit organization which provides financial support to research hospitals/foundations dedicated to developing cures for cancer and childhood diseases. Monies are raised by children and adults through community-sponsored outdoor events designed for youth.

Kids Hunting for a Cure is set up to donate its proceeds to Children Hospitals and to local research hospitals and foundations, upon approval of the Board of Directors.

The Northeast Missouri chapter of KHFAC was established by Bucks and Beards of Maywood in 2008 and held their first event during the youth deer portion of the Missouri rifle season the same year. The group members' determination to pass on their own passion for the outdoors to a new generation and their dedication to providing financial support for cures for cancer and childhood diseases is the perfect recipe for a fun and exciting weekend.

Kids from all over the country are encouraged to attend. Aside from BIG whitetails, Missouri is also one of the most inexpensive places to take your kid hunting. If you are interested in attending our hunt, or would like to provide support in the way of product or monetary contributions shoot us a message and we would be happy to talk to you. Check back often for more information.

Hope to see you in the Fall!

Sounds like we aren't the only ones with wierd birds. I ended up with a jake, so at least I wasn't skunked. Friday I waded 1/4 mile up a drainage ditch in the pouring rain and crawled through 15 yards of poison ivy to get to a 4 toms I spotted from the road. Called them in to 60 yards and it started pourin harder. They all hunkered down right there and eventually got up and went the other way. Don't know if it was the lightning or the hen that was going nuts to my right that made em change their minds. Didn't end the way i'd like!

Season's been rough...gobblin all over the place, but won't come in. Bunch of people up here are having the same problem. I knocked down a jake last week, but that's it so far. Dad killed a 25 lb, 11" beard, 1 3/8 spurs and a 21 lb, 11" beard, 1 1/8 spurs. I got less than a week to go! One morning last week had a bobcat snuck up on me within 2 ft ready to jump, then he came back and sat down 4 ft from me 15 mins later and was staring at the decoy. Those are the experiences that keep us in the woods! How'd yours go?

I didn't have any luck this year at all..........For one, I started a new job and have been working 6+ days a week, so I only got to go out two days!!! Of course the rain and storms made it even more difficult. I saw 3 gobblers at 12:59pm on Mother's Day............Yeah, not a good turkey season for me!!

My email is kimek12@hotmail.com.

Can't wait to get involved with KHFAC!!! :)
