Along with hunting and fishing, I sing in a Southern Gospel group called "Journey's End." I play Guitar and various other instruments. I've written and recorded a few songs that is on our first CD. And if all that isn't enough, I delve in to some geneology every once in a while along with some self help projects and some minor woodworking.

Seems to come on 7:00 P.M. or so on Friday nights on the Pursuit Channel. These are some good people doin' some good things.
HEROES
My Grandfather "Warren D. Howell." The man lived 101 years having out lived 11 of his 12 brothers and sisters (my grandpa was the oldest), outlived 2 wives, outlived 3 of his 4 children, and every friend he ever knew. My grandfather lived through hard times, stared adversity in the face then grabbed it by the throat and kicked it's ever lovin' a$$. If I turn out to be half the man that he was then that would be saying a lot.
I'm just a small town guy like many other small town guys who are just trying to eek out a living, keep gas in the truck, a roof over head and food on the family table. I've been hooked on hunting and the outdoors since my father took me hunting at an early age. Anymore it's not so much about the thrill of the hunt as it is the opportunity to witness others enjoy in the thrill. I have 3 sons that are 25 years old, and they've all grown fond of hunting and I think it's as much of a thrill to me to watch them harvest something that is special to them.
Our steel player is trying to learn Buddy Emmons style as well, however he has failed miserably though I keep praying for him. Some of the stuff that we do is popular stuff by the McKamey's, Rhonda Vincent, the Hinsons, and others, and a good portion of what I do during our sets is stuff that I wrote originally that I felt that God gave to me personally to sing for someone else. Hopefully the message will have a life altering change in their life. If it's happened yet, no one has come forth and told me so, yet I keep praying that what I'm doing will have an impact on someone's life. I'm not a seasoned musician regardless of what instrument that I pick up and play, but I play with the passion that I hope the Lord finds pleasing. Hope you have a great hunting season. If you get the chance you can check out our band at http://www.myspace.com/journeysendarkansas if you'd like.

My dad plays steel guitar - learned Buddy Emmons style from a guy in Louisville that was awesome. Dad's pretty good; I never could get anything but noise out of it. LOL.
Good/Bad is for secular music. Praise and Worship music is from the heart brother - that's it. If it hadn't been for that and the forbearance of a loving family I never would have learned a thing.
Keep playing. Keep singing. You wouldn't want the rocks to cry out would you?
That's all you can do brother Mike - that's your job.
Matters of the heart and providence belong to Him. Leave it to Him, He's good at it. By the way, He doesn't own a watch or calendar.
