Sorry about not getting back to u sooner. Just made it back to work the last couple days. Have the deer hunt going on since last Sat. Kind of slow, lots of crops still in and the weather, Way too nice for Nov. deer hunting! I did manage to shoot a nice (older) doe on the opener but really messed up on the trailing buck that was just out of sight when I shot her. I know the golden rule, when u see that single doe during the rut, there is prbably a buck behind her. I didn't get a chance to count points but I will say all of as nice as last years 150 and a beautyful drop tine on the left side as it ran through the brush away from me. No good shot to take.Still haven't heard of either of the two bigger boys being taken in the area and still have through Sun. to hunt Nice job on putting the hurt on the 2 bucks. I'll mail u after Sun. and let u know how Colbey and I finished up. I can only hope he gets a nice shot to take. So far those two were the only ones I've had and Colb has seen 8 doe all too far for good shots. Take care! Stay in touch. Your Friend Whitey
It is so good to hear from you too. Yes, I am so proud of Ashley. I can't take all the credit for the way she hunts, she has a lot of natural ability and she's very smart too. I just try to tell her the things NOT to do, and she listens very well. She also has a lot of "want to" and drive....she wants to kill a big deer, so I try to tell her how to get it done.
She was the same way in High School, and now is the same in college. She wants to do good and make good grades so from time to time Sam and I remind her what it takes to do just that. Sometimes her focus gets a little off and she get to thinking more about her boyfriend than school and we have to remind her that school comes first and everything else afterwards.....But she does pretty good for an eighteen year old.
Anyway......congrats on the doe. I can't get one to stand still long enough to take an arrow. Saw one yesterday that had twin fawns but I wasn't going to shoot her anyways, just fun to watch.
Good luck to Crystal and the boy on getting one of those nice deer...
Have you been hearing a lot of shooting coming from your neighbor at the end of the road???? Maybe not so much lately, but about a month ago?
Especially on Saturdays....just wondering...lol
Talk to ya later,
Ron

I just saw you at the BP in Ramseur getting gas on friday, I threw my hand up and you looked right at us but I guess you didn't know who we were in the white Ford (Sam's Truck). We were on our way to Morrow Mtn. for the weekend... Great looking deer for you and Clark...As you can tell I haven't been on here in a while, just so darn busy but I'll try to check back more often. How the family?
I need to post up Ashley's pic of her first bow kill, nice 7 pointer she shot on opening afternoon. It was also the first deer she had very drawn her bow on too, she heart shot him and he went about 60 yds.
Take care, and I'll talk to ya soon.

Hey Dan, Born and raise in Ohio. Left in 1986 i think. Moved to N.C. looking for work and found so much more. Hunting is great but i still miss the big old bucks of Ohio. Hope you have a great seasone......John
I'll be back down on the 6th of Oct. -for a week - probably my last time down. My Brother was out the second day of bow season and ran across a buck he said will score higher than my 150 of last year, He's thinking could be in the 170 class. I told him to get it on trail cam, so i have the before and after of it when I shoot it during gun season. He says this year it will be him w/ the bow.See ya then whitey
Thanks, This was my first buck I saw this year while hunting. I have some bigger ones on the camera, but only at night. Gun Season in two weeks.
