I am a retired Idaho State employee. I live in North Idaho and have been an avid hunter for almost 50 years, I hunt mostly whitetails. I do some amateur taxidermy and I am a certified B&C and P&Y antler measurer. I enjoy photography and all outdoor activities.

Hello Idahoshedfreak, Thanks for the comments. I really never thought of it until my son joined the marine corps. You get a REAL life look at the situation going on right now.
Yes sir, i got drew last year for a cow tag. Killed a cow that weighed 670. It was a great hunt. A lot of big bulls showing up in ky now, saw one killed the other day that unofficially scored 409. There is somewhere between 9-10k elk in Ky right now. Estimated. Soon to be 15k.
Thanks, I will check it out. good luck!

I am doing good. I went out archery hunting today and had a rag horn elk at 35 yards. He came in so quiet I did not see him behind me until he had winded me and spooked. I had been cow calling off and on for about an hour! The brush was so thick I had no chance for a shot.
it is amaxing how quite they can be. body size how big was he?
He was a nice plump 2 and a half year old probably about 350 lbs or so. Antler wise a small 3X4 rack. And yes you are right they can often move through the timber without making a sound.
Not to bad. seems like he was a youngen. Would u have taken him if he would have made a sound and u'd known he was there?

I don't have a whole lot to complain about, except that bear outsmarted me every day for a week!
From one Navy vet to another thanks for your service! I hope you get the "Big One" this year also.
Good deal man. We just got it back online, we had a few kinks that we had to work out. See you soon on SBH
