APRS is Amateur Packet Radio Service I think. You use a GPS and a TNC(terminal node controller) hooked to laptop and VHF or UHF radio usually. It will broadcast your position and you can also recieve others positions. really cool to use and helpful.

that would be cool. Around here you have to do it thru the red cross and I just have never done that. I liked it better when I lived in Enid and we just did it. Do yall use APRS?

Thanks for the add. Judging by the username, your a ham radio operator, if so, what is your call sign. Mine is KE5JWE. When I was a ham the first time(before I let my license expire) I was also a storm chaser for the civil defense but now I just do it for fun. Anyways, good luck this season.
