Chuck_Pierce Had a good afternoon in the woods. had three doe at ten yards. good stuff!

I Live in Copenhagen, NY about thirty minutes from the US Canadian Border. I love big game hunting with my bow, rifle, or muzzle loader, fishing for anything that will bite, hiking, outdoor photography, and saltwater taffy.. I stick to fair chase hunting on public land for whitetails and black bear in Northern NY mostly. I am here to meet friends and talk about the outdoors or anything else that might pop up.Ilove making new friends, so feel free to drop me a line.

Thanks, I had a great morining in the woods, followed by a quiet day with my wife and son. (I even skipped my afternoon hunt) I love the woods but its super tough to leave my family, even if it is just for an afternoon. I hope things are going great with your new family too.
Things are great Hunting season started in Ohio almost a month ago and over a month ago here in my new hometown. I have hunted a total of about 3 hours LOL I can't bring myself to get out, miss my babydoll too much if I am gone, so I know what you mean Glad you had a great day!

I see that you are hoping to get your first bird and deer this fall! Thats great, but the secret is KNOWING your gonna get a deer and bird this fall. Its all confidence. Confidence comes from scouting and working on all of your other skills. Know your land, your prey, and your hunting gear and you'll get the results your looking for! good luck -Chuck

yeah that's true.I have a good feeling i will get me my first deer and turkey this fall.I been hunting deer for 3 years now and i been hunting turkeys for 2 years.I don't usually scout the area i just go out there and hunt and it's b/c over the years by just sitting there watching the movement of the deer and turkeys i know where they travel eachyear and around here it's the same path. While i was turkey hunting this spring i seen 6 deer come up to the decoys.I almost got me a nice jake this spring i had my gun loaded and aimed on him and when i pulled the trigger my shotgun missedfire.I think this fall i'm going to use my ameristep doghouse blind off and on it comes in handy b/c the deer and turkeys can't see you.To me the key to a successful hunt is patience and confidence. We have 2 2-man treestands but i usually sit on the ground i had deer as close as 5-10 yards from me.

Oh yeah its up close and personal on the ground. I've taken a few deer off the ground with my bow, but a a lot with my fire stick. I love it, Its all about the set up. Either a blind or good ground cover to block your outline. I never sit on the ground though, I usually stand in a clump of trees or behind a blow down. only a few more months. Get that first buck on the ground and it will get a lot easier for you after that.
Yeah that's true. That's pretty cool that you shot some deer just sitting on the ground.I don't think i really need a blind but it comes in handy.I never used a treestand before i scared of heights so i usually sit on the ground instead in a tree.Yep only 3 more months until fall deer and turkey season starts here in oklahoma.I can't wait to get me my first deer and turkey this fall.
